Today being 8th march every where we are bombarded with Happy Woman’s day messages. All the radio channels are playing woman power songs. Just heard some news channel tell that Mumbai police has launched some special service to help women in distress. But I don’t know why we don’t hear these things on other non special days. But kya Karen we are like that only. We wish our mothers on mother’s day and take her for granted on the other days. We might even forget to wish her good morning and start bombarding her with all the Why questions….. Why you didn’t wake me up? Why you didn’t keep my dress ironed? (Some examples, I am sure there will be more serious queries as well as there will be exceptions to the rule wherein the kids will be super- independent). Similarly on other days the father will be an ATM machine but on Father’s day he will get a nice gift (probably bought from the pocket money he gives). But chalta hai. Life is like that and we accept and expect it to be like that.

Today February 3rd is Deepti Naval’s birth day. It is a double pleasure for me, to wish her a long healthy and creative life as well as to present my second song in the series ‘Creations of Jaidev’.

As a tribute to the great singer Pandit Bhimsen Joshi (4 february 1922- 24 january 2011) on his third death anniversary today (January 24th), here is a song from 1985 film Ankahee. The film was produced by Amol Palekar and Jayant D. The star cast included Amol Palekar, Deepti Naval, Devika Mukherjee, Vinod Mehra, Shriram Lagoo, Dina Pathak and Anil Chatterjee etc. The film had superb music and this traditional Bhajan is set to music by my most favourite Music Director Jaidevji.

There have been songs and songs on the lives of courtesans or Tawaifs as they are called. And there have been many songs where a “tawaif” with a golden heart will fall in love with a sweet boy next door kind of hero. And it will take the hero the whole of the movie to realize that he also loves the “tawaif”. The only difference will be the route the movie will take to help the hero reach his enlightenment about his love for the lady in question.

So today (25 september 2013) is the 53rd birthday of Master Satyajeet (DOB 25 september 1960) who played the role of a young Dev Anand in “Hare Rama Hare Krishna”. He grew up and did a few movies as main lead mainly in Rajshri Films— Paheli (1977), Gopal Krishna (1979) etc and then probably he realized that he was getting nowhere as far as leading roles were concerned.

Here is a song that I have wanted to send for quite some now. I will call it rare in the sense that the duet is with male singers —Kishore Kumar and S P Balasubramaniam. The two heroes are Rishi Kapoor and Kamalhaasan. The picturisation shows the heroes dancing in a local joint- call it a bar or an eating house or Tavern (I think that is the right word) run by Dimple and her dad Saeed Jaffrey.

Today, we all are celebrating a special day, the fifth birthday of our blog. Like all contributors and fans of this blog, I was also absent at the birth of this blog. The blog was already three years and four months old when I was introduced by a close friend of mine. The relationship grew stronger every day and now I feel proud and fortunate to be part of this family. I pray the Lord that this blog blooms every day and the fragrance of it’s blossom spreads everywhere.
