Today’s song is from a social film “Pyaas”-1941.
Films with the title “Pyaas” were made in 1941, 1968 and 1982. Interestingly, there were 45 films having the word ‘ Pyas/Pyasa/Pyasi’ in its title as the first word. I always advocate that when a film is mentioned, for whatever reason, it is absolutely necessary that its year is also mentioned along with the title of the film. In Hindi films, it is a common phenomenon that many films with similar titles are produced in different years. I have quoted many times that a film titled ” Insaf” was produced 7 times in different years. Like the ‘ Same Name Confusion ‘ of film actors, a film itself can be a victim of ‘Same Title Confusion’ if the specific year is not mentioned.

Today’s song is from the film Apna Ghar-1942.
This film was the remake of the Marathi film “आपले घर ” (Aaple Ghar i.e. Our Home). Very surprisingly, it was made in both languages by Circo Production, a film company famous for making Hindi films. Usually, the bilingual-Marathi/Hindi films were made in Poona and Kolhapur by either Shantaram’s Prabhat Films or Master Vinayak’s Huns Pictures at Kolhapur. But then, the owner of the CIRCO (Cine Industries Recording COmpany), Chimanlal Trivedi was a person exclusive in the industry.He produced films taking the best from the industry- actors, directors or the music directors. He floated 5 successful film companies and one stage drama company. He had close relations with the top political leaders of India. After his death, his entire family settled in the USA. Pancham’s Music – Eighties (1981-1990)
Today 27th June’2024 is the birth anniversary of Rahul Dev Burman. On this occasion we are paying our tributes to him by posting some of the songs composed by him.
For the last few years I have been regularly listening to songs composed by R.D. Burman on radio or on playlist recorded in a pen-drive. It is always a pleasure to listen to the songs composed by Pancham as many RD Burman songs composed by him are my favourites. Listening to his well known songs as well as songs that I was not aware of is a new experience now. I during my growing up years may not have been able to discern the nuances of his music, including music created through unconventional ‘instruments’.

Today 27th June’2024 is the eighty-fifth birth anniversary of the legendary music composer Rahul Dev Burman. He was born on 27th June’1939 and he passed away on 4th January’1994. Today on the occasion of his birth anniversary we pay our tributes to R.D. Burman on this blog by covering a few songs composed by him.
One of the most successful successful collaboration of HFM was one where Rahul Dev Burman composed music for movies directed by Shakti Samanta where lead actor was Rajesh Khanna and lyricist was Anand Bakshi.

Regulars on the blog are aware that we are looking back at the missing movies released fifty years ago right from the beginning of this decade of ‘2021-2030’. In other words we are looking back at the decade of 1971-1980 from the beginning of this decade. It means we looked back at the missing movies of 1971 during 2021, missing movies of 1972 during the years 2022 and the missing movies of 1973 during the year 2023. Now we are into the year 2024 and so we are looking at the missing movies of 1974.
