I am aware of a movie called “Shamaa”(1961) that had music by Ghulam Mohammad. Now it turns out that there is another movie by the same name that was released in 1946 and it had music by Ghulam Haider. I other words, both these movies with similar names have music by similarly named music directors as well.

S D Burman is mainly known as a music director. He also sang songs. Most of his songs were philosophical in nature that would typically be played towards the beginning of the movie and set the tone for the story.

In Indian mythology, viz Mahabharata, Subhadra was the sister of Lord Krishna and she got married to Krishna’s dear friend Arjun. There have been many Hindi movies about Krishna and about Arjun, but to the best of my knowledge, there has been only one movie on Subhadra.

26th January (Republic day) and 15 august (Independence day) are the two national days in India when National flag is hoisted all over the country. This blog also joins in the celebration. After this blog began in july 2009, we have had two independence days and two republic days. During those occasions, this blog discussed the the popular patriotic songs from Hindi movies. Many of these songs have gone on to become iconic songs.

“Shikaari” (1946) was one of the earliest movies of S D Burman as a music director. The songs of this movie became quite popular and helped S D Burman in getting a foothold in the Hindi movie music industry.

Movies with the title “Milan” seems to get produced every decade. I am aware of “Milan” (1967) and I also became aware of “Milan” (1958). Now it turns out that there was a movie of this name in 1946 too. This movie, “Milan” (1946) had Dilip Kumar, Ranjana, Meera Mishra etc in this movie.

Meri ho gayi unse baat

By now I have discussed as many as 39 songs composed by Sajjad Hussain for Hindi movies. Considering that he gave music for only about 100 songs, finding the remaining songs is becoming increasingly difficult and so discovery of every additional Sajjad Hussain song from now onwards in a cause to rejoice, because the remaining song are truly difficult to locate.

A few days ago, I had discussed about my resolution to post all the available Sajjad Hussain compositions in this blog. So far I have discussed 33 such songs which amount to about one third of all the Sajjad Hussain compositions in Hindi movies. After that, I have hit a wall and I was unable to find more songs to discuss.

Not all Hindi movies are made by big producers. There are many movies that are made by lesser producers with lesser names. Most of these movies, which are known as B and C grade movies, end up remaining unsung and unwatched as majority of such movie do not get proper exposure with the public.
