By now I have discussed as many as 39 songs composed by Sajjad Hussain for Hindi movies. Considering that he gave music for only about 100 songs, finding the remaining songs is becoming increasingly difficult and so discovery of every additional Sajjad Hussain song from now onwards in a cause to rejoice, because the remaining song are truly difficult to locate.

A few days ago, I had discussed about my resolution to post all the available Sajjad Hussain compositions in this blog. So far I have discussed 33 such songs which amount to about one third of all the Sajjad Hussain compositions in Hindi movies. After that, I have hit a wall and I was unable to find more songs to discuss.

Not all Hindi movies are made by big producers. There are many movies that are made by lesser producers with lesser names. Most of these movies, which are known as B and C grade movies, end up remaining unsung and unwatched as majority of such movie do not get proper exposure with the public.

In this blog, I post songs mainly from the golden era of Hindi movie music spanning across three decades from 1950s to 1970s. The decades just prior to 1950s, viz 1940s and 1930s were where the decks were cleared for the golden era to commence Listening to songs from these two pioneering decades is an enriching experience as it helps us go down memory lane by more than six to seven decades back to an era when I was not born and even my parents were small kids at that time.

The golden era of Hindi movie music began in late 1940s and lasted till late 1970s. There are very few music directors who were around when the golden era began and who lasted almost the entire period of this golden era. The one music director who was around for almost the entire duration and whose was S D Burman.

I have so far posted 11 songs from “Anmol Ghadi” (1946) and I wondered if there was any worthwhile song left from this movie that needed to be posted. Of course there was ! Here is this delightful song sung by Suraiyya which I had never heard before till now !
