“Bazaar” (1949) was a movie with Shyam, Nigar Sultana, Gope, Yaqoob, Kukku etc in it. This movie may have been forgotten by now, but this movie has some nice songs in it.

Indian independence also brought partition, and it caused human suffering on a large scale. Quite a few movies were made on this subject. “Lahore” (1949), starring Karan Dewan and Nargis was one of the first such movies on this subject.

I just stumbled upon a song that is picturised on Suraiyya (then a superstar) and Madhubala (an emerging superstar). This song is from “Singaar” (1949) and it is a showdown song between the two.
