But being that the music direction is by Chitragupt, there are bound to be some very good songs included in this film. And sure enough, the song in this post is a gem that has stayed obscure for too long. A very wonderful and a lilting duet in the voices of Hemant Da and Lata ji.

Normally it is believed that O P Nayyar composed music for only two Shammi Kapoor movies, viz. “Tumsa Nahin Dekha” (1957) and “Kashmir Ki Kali”(1964). But that is not correct. O P Nayyar also composed the music of “Mujrim” (1958). This was an Eagle Films Production. It was produced by F C Mehra and directed by O P Ralhan. The movie had Shammi Kapoor, Ragini, Shubha Khote, Kamal Kapoor, S. N. Ramanand Sagar bagged the Filmare award for the best director, and the film also got the Filmfare award for color cinematography. The music was hit, with lyrics coming from the pen of Sahir Ludhianvi and the music from the baton on Ravi. A film that truly settled Dharmendra’s career on a strong footing. Remembering Anand Bakshi on the anniversary of his passing away.
Anand ji, a most prolific songwriter that this industry has seen. His claim to fame is having penned more than 3,500 songs for nearly 640 films. A writing career that lasted for more than four decades, and his creations continued to appear in films as late as last year (2012), ten years after his passing away from this world. In his lifetime, he was nominated for no less than 40 times for the Filmfare awards, which sounds like almost one nomination every year of his active career from 1957 to 2002. That in itself may be a record that no one may be close to in the industry. He won this award four times.
