“Dharmputra” (1961) was a movie with a difference as it was a movie with a message made on a socially relevant topic. The fact that the movie did not do well does not detract from the relevance of the message.

In many of my posts I have talked about Rafi saab. And that is because I just love his voice. It goes straight to my heart. Apparently, from all accounts, he was also a simple, generous human being – and this only adds to the reason why I have extremely high regard for him.

Most music lovers are aware of better known songs from movies and they are oblivious of the other songs from those movies. I have fond that these lesser known/forgotten songs can sometimes be real gems/ special songs.

When I had begun this blog, my grand vision was to discuss 2500 songs. I had thought that by that time I would have discussed all the Hindi movie songs that are worth discussing. When I finally reached that magic figure (on 29 may 2010), I found that I had just scratched the surface, as far as discussing the great Hindi movie songs was concerned and that many great songs were not yet discussed.

Here is a mourning song from “Batwaaraa” (1961). No one had died. It is the age old relations that have are getting severed though. The two brothers, who lived under the same roof, now want to partition the home as they cannot see eye to eye with each other. So a wall is being erected right in front of the courtyard to partition the house into two.
