I recently discovered the songs of “Maai Baap” (1957). I also found that Johny Walker played a long role (a comedian villain) in this movie. He had more than one song in this movie.

I maintain that some of the most memorable O P Nayyar compositions have been picturised not on regular heroes, but on a comedian,viz Johny Walker. In some of these movies, Johny Walker in fact played the hero as well.

Here is a teasing song that is a beach song as well where boys (Dev Anand, Johny Walker) and girls (Vyjyanti Mala etc) are assembled at a beach. The first commandment of Bollywood movies is- “Though shall sing.” So a song ensues in which Dev Saab, all of 44 years, acts like a teenager teasing a 30 plus Vaijyanti Mala who is herself dressed like a teenager in a figure hugging tight dress. Johny Walker gives able company to the hero, as do other extras.

The title of this movie called “Ek Phool Chaar Kaante” (1960) looks traditional enough, but I am only just discovering that the music of this movie was anything but the usual stuff.
