This is another gem of a ghazal by Mubarak Begum. Hameer Hatth is an lesser known film from 1964. Produced under the banner of Jagdish Films, Bombay, it is directed by Jawant Jhaveri. The star cast of the movie includes Nirupa Roy, Jairaj, Manhar Desai, Anita Guha, Helen, Sapru, Vijaya Cahoudhary, BM VYas, etc. The music is composed by another less celebrated talent, Sanmukh Babu Upadhyay. There are a total of eight songs in the film, written by three lyricists, Neelkanth Tewari, Uday Khanna, and Saraswati Kumar ‘Deepak’. This particular song is penned by Saraswati Kumar Deepak, and has been beautifully rendered by Mubarak Begum.

“Madhosh”(1951) is a movie that had Manhar Desai, Meena Kumari and Usha Kiran in lead roles. Talat Mehmood sung for Manhar Desai, whereas Lata sang for both the leading ladies. Thankfully the two leading ladies did not sing a duet together, else we do not know what the music directors would have done. 🙂

Golden era of Hindi movie music saw a plethora of musical talents that enriched Hindi movie music with their contribution. It is not that only big name artists contributed, even those artists who struggled to get opportunities and who worked in so called B grade movies also contributed their mite. some of them in fact deserved to getmany more assignments than what they finally ended up with.
