“Tadbeer” (1945) was produced and directed by Jayant Desai. THis movie had K L Saigal and Suraiyya in lead roles. Others in the movie included Mubarak, Jillobai, Rehana, Salvi, Gharpure, Raja Joshi, Shalini, Shashi Kapoor (senior) etc.

Thankfully, we in this blog get our details from Mr Arunkumar Deshmukh, our own beloved inhouse encyclopaedia. So when I needed to find the details about “Sindoor” (1947), all I had to do was to search for the old posts on this movie.

Yesterday, I had posted the song “Tumhen Dil Se Jaane Nahin Denge Hum” from the 1945 film ‘Sanyaasi’. The song came at the request of Sikander Esmail Sb who currently resides in the USA. Yesterday morning Atul ji had
forwarded to me an email from Sikander Sb, wherein he has requested for three songs from the 1940s that he is trying to locate. There are some wonderful memories of some departed friends associated with these songs.

It is well known that the film that really launched the career of Mukesh was the 1945 film ‘Pehli Nazar’. And in this film, the most enduring sound has been the song “Dil Jalta Hai To Jalne De”, sung by Mukesh. Apart from this timeless and iconic song, Mukesh has sung three more song in this film. One more solo song, and two duets with Naseem Akhtar. The solo song is “Tai Kar Ke Badi Door Se Purpech Dagariyaa”, a light hearted song of a young heart in search of love. The duet is the title song “Laga Pehli Nazar Ka Teer”. These three songs are now already present on this blog.

There have been at least two movies called “Khaandaan”. One of them was released in 1965 and it had Sunil Dutt and Nutan in lead roles. But there was another movie of the same name that was released as far back as 1942.
