The series has reached a stage where I have covered several old timers among female playback singers who left their marks in Hindi movie music. The last of those to feature here is Geeta Dutt. This is a duet with Rafi from the film ‘Superman’ (1960). Prem Dhawan is the lyricist and the music director is Sardar Malik. Only the audio link is available, but it is said to be picturized on Helen and Majnu.

Two days ago, I had posted one song from a film that is very obscure –‘Jawahar’ (1960). The song I had posted was for the birth anniversary of Dwijen Mukhopadhyay. And I had written in the article that I have no additional information about this film. The same day, Kirit ji Bhatt almost immediately added the comment, appreciating the upload and requesting for another song from the same film. Ah, that give me encouragement that listeners in our friend circle do remember even the obscure films, because of the songs and music.

Yesterday, just like that, I googled ‘nine thousand’. Did not expect to find anything really interesting and useful to write about. After all, it is just another number. But really, I was surprised. Wow, never thought I would find such an interesting information description that would be so appropriate for this huge milestone that we have arrived at today.

“Hamdard” (1953) was produced by Asha Biswas and directed by S Bhagat under the banner of Variety Pictures. The movie had Shekhar, Nimmi, Smriti Biswas, Yashodharat Katju, Ishu Jagirdar, Harish Bhardwaj, Rajan Kapoor, PD Lal, KS Sengar, and Shivraj etc.
