I have discussed as many as six songs from “Jeet” (1948) in this blog. Most of these songs were sung by Suraiyya, the then reigning acting-singing superstar. But this movie also had a new emerging voice that was tipped to go far. Yes, Lata Mangeshkar was also given an opportunity of playback singing in this movie.

When India became independent in 1947, the nationalistic fervour among the newly independant Indians was naturally at its peak. People wanted to forge their own identity and one of the battle cries that was frequently heard those days was to give up wearing Western clothings and wear native clothings. “Adaa” (1951) is a by now forgotten movie that had Shekhar, Rehana, Gope, Madan Puri etc in it. I had discussed two songs from this movie in the past. Sudhir recently came across another song from this movie and he pointed this song out to me.
