Chaandni Raaten – Song No. 8
——————————–
The movie “Doosri Shadi” (1947) has eleven songs in it, with music composer Pandit Govindram and lyricist Ishwar Chand Kapoor. The honour of singers are shared between Zohrabai Ambalewali and Shamshad Begum, with a few songs by Rajkumari. From the page on myswar.com this appears to be a female dominated music score with few songs for male singers. There is one name of ‘Ram Kamlani ‘ as singer in a couple of duets with Shamshad Begum. And for two songs singers name are absent. These two songs from this movie are posted in the blog.
| Song | Singer |
|---|---|
| Toota hua dil gaayega kya geet suhaana | Zohrabai Ambalewali |
| Dekho ji aayi suhaani raat | Rajkumari |

She is compiling a collection of the films produced and / or directed by her father, and also the songs contained in this films. Shri Amarnath’s career as a director started in 1936, and much of his earlier films are not traceable as of now. When we communicated via this blog, Manju ji indicated that she is continuing to search for such films and songs.

Most people think that life is like a limited overs cricket match where one has just one innings which ends when one retires from his job. But in reality one still has a long enough life ahead of him/ her. Instead of retiring, one can re-tire one’s wheels, take a fresh guard and begin a new innings, which may be quite glorious and memorable.

The pen that wrote the immensely soothing verses of “Haath Seene Pe Jo Rakh Do To Qaraar Aa Jaaye” (‘Mirza Sahibaan’, 1947), is the same pen that also produced such immensely fun and popular iconic number like “Laara Lappa Laara Lappa Laai Rakhdaa” (‘Ek Thi Ladki’, 1949) with music director Vinod, and such a comely and alluring blockbusters like “Huzoor e Waala, Jo Ho Ijaazat”(‘Ye Raat Phir Na Aayegi’, 1966), created with OP Nayyar.

Real life has no control experiments. In the sense that one cannot experiment with real life. One cannot re enact the passages of life which
have already passed, and try them with a different set of parameters. Time once gone, cannot be relived. And events and passages once experienced, cannot be replayed. The seductive thought process – ‘yun hota to kya hota’ (‘Ah, only if it were so’) is an exercise in speculation, for one cannot decisively say whether the results in life would have been different, had one taken a different path and made some different choices. It is all speculation, and nothing else.

CREDIBILITY is certainly a valuable virtue and a treasure to possess. Our parents enjoy a high credibility quotient with us. Anything told by them was accepted without a doubt or a question.(This is, of course, in olden days). We respect people with credibility. Books like Dictionaries and Encyclopedias carry the highest credibility. Does anyone question the meaning of words in a Dictionary ? Certainly not ! Likewise Encyclopaedias too give credible information.
