By a unique coincidence, the Hindi movie actress Rakhi was born on that very day, viz 15 august 1947 ! Among all the midnight children (as Salman Rushdie would describe children born on that day in his best selling novel of the same name), Rakhi must be the most well known one. She is exactly of the same age as the nation of India !

Today (13 august) is the birthday of Vyjyantimala, one of the most proficient classically trained dancer to grace the silver screen. She made her debut in Hindi movies in 1950 with “Bahaar” (1950) and she had a long innings in Hindi movies which lasted till around 1967 when she finally bowed out of Hindi movies.
