There was a time in my life when I thought no end about myself. Regarding bollywood movies of course.  Then the bubble burst when I came across this blog a few little years back. Well the situation was that my Peevesie going through some songs which Atul had posted back then, and I fumbled on the tune even if the title of the song seemed familiar. Much like what happened a while back when Sudhir ji posted a song from the film ‘Wahaan Ke Log’ from 1967. The lead line in the song is “Hum Tujhse Mohabbat Kar Ke Sanam“. And I promptly said “Rote Bhi Rahe Haste Bhi Rahe” as the cross line. Only to discover a different and a (relatively) new song. 16th november 1966 was the day when Roshan, then at the peak of his career expired all of a sudden. That happened exactly 45 years ago and lots of water has flown under the bridge since. His two sons managed to have reasonable careers in Hindi movies, with one of his songs following in his steps as a music director. and his grandson, who was born several years after his death became a superstar of Hindi movies. Today many people of the younger generation remember Roshan as the grandfather of Hrithik Roshan. As far as people of my generation as well as older generation is concerned, Hrithik Roshan is the grand son of Roshan and not vice versa. The fact that the first name of Roshan Lal Nagrath should be adopted as the surname by his sons and grandsons shows what a huge star Roshan was. His name sold, and it sells today, and it will sell long after Hrithik Roshan has retired.

People who love music, never grow up – that is my theory. The logic goes like this. A true music lover will never lose the capacity to be thrilled at hearing a new song, a new melody that is fun or poignant, and touches the heart. If a person does not have this characteristic, then it is difficult for that person to appreciate music. Now, being thrilled at something new is a hallmark characteristic of a child. Hence, people who have this capacity and love music, always have a child’s heart and mind within, and hence they never grow up. QED. 🙂
