“Mem Sahib” (1956) was a lovely movie starring Kishore Kumar, Meena Kumari and Shammi Kapoor. This movie was a fun movie which was great to watch. And the music was wonderful.

I have discussed as many as five songs from “Laat Saahab” (1967). But five songs just too few a number to be satisfied with for a typical musical blockbuster of those days.

Today (24th december) is Rafi’s birthday so today we are discussing songs sung by Rafi in this blog.
Here is a song from “Mirza Saahibaan”(1957). I notice that I have discussed as many as six songs from a movie of the same name that was released in 1947 and which starred Trilok Kapoor and Noorjahaan, but only one song from “Mirza Saahibaan” (1957) which starred Trilok Kapoor’s nephew, someone known as Shammi Kapoor 🙂 and Shyama.

“Preet Na Jaane Reet” (1966) is a Moviestan presentation. It was directed by S Bannerji. The star cast included names like Shammi Kapoor, B. Saroja Devi, Siddhu, Nazir Hussain, Parveen Choudhary, Minoo Mumtaz, Dhumal,Shammi, Randhir, Johnny Walker etc.

Something providential in the coincident that today is the birth anniversary of two wonderful dancers and performers of the Hindi silver screen. Yes, today, 21st October is the day that both Shammi Kapoor and Helen share as their date of birth. And not that it is a strange or unique occurrence. Many people share their dates of birth with many other known, even renowned people. But I single out this occurrence as special – these two wonderful people have been contemporaries in the film industry, they have performed together in many movies, and the most important, both of them represent that combination of energy and fun and delight and enjoyment that is unique to their theatrical personae.

“Dil Tera Deewaana” (1962) was a Padmini Pictures production. It was directed by B Ramkrishna Pantulu. The satr cast included Shammi Kapoor, Mala Sinha, Mehmood,Shubha Khote,Pran, Om Prakash, Ulhas, Mohan Choti, Mumtaz Begam, Kammo, Manmohan Krishna etc.
