In the history of Hindi film songs – and we are talking then about several thousand songs – there have been a few really, really, REALLY popular ones. There have been many very good ones but as we know, not all good songs end up being popular with the masses. And he would give his best to these songs. There are countless Rafi songs sung for anonymous music directors which were picturised on forgotten/ forgettable actors. Quite a few of these songs are very nice and hummable songs.

I have mentioned it in the past that Ganesh was a music director who deserved much better than what he achieved in Bollywood. He was just as talented if not more than Pyarelal (of Laxmikant Pyarelal fame, who was his brother).
