Jo tumko ho pasand wahi baat kahenge

on:Rajesh Khanna was just beginning his bull run as a superstar in late 1960s. Safar was one of the earlier movies of that time. That era coincided with an even bigger bull run begun by Kishore Kumar as a singer and R D Burman as music director. But the shape of things to come could not have been predicted from this movie. Here Mukesh sings for Feroz Khan ( yes, this Rajesh Khanna movie had Feroz Khan too ) and Kalyanji Anandji scores the music. One year later, it would all be about Rajesh Khanna, Kishore Kumar and R D Burman in a Rajesh Khanna movie.
Coming to this song itself, this song was a nice song, but a Kishore Kumar song from this movie which was also the title song “Zindagi ka safar, hai ye kaisa safar” managed to become more popular in Binaca geetmala.
Purely on merit, this is a very nice and memorable song to listen to. And the same could be said about the title song to. And in fact, the same could be said about a few other songs from this movie sung by Lata and Manna Dey as well. This movie in fact was a musical blockbuster containing nearly half a dozen memorable evergreen songs sung by Mukesh, Lata, Kishore and Manna Dey.
This song is a car song which is picturised by Feroz Khan and Sharmila Tagore with Feroz Khan singing and driving simultaneously, that too on hilly terrain. I would not recommend a man to try singing while driving on such hilly terrain, even if a lady is seated beside you.

Song-jo tum ko ho pasand wahi baat kahenge (Safar) ( 1970) Singer-Mukesh, Lyrics- Indeewar, MD- Kalyanji Anandji
Lyrics
jo tumko ho pasand, wohi baat kahenge
jo tumko ho pasand, wohi baat kahenge
jo tumko ho pasand, wohi baat kahenge
tum din ko agar raat kaho, raat kahenge
jo tumko ho pasand, wohi baat kahenge
dete naa aap saath to mar jaate ham kabhi ke
dete naa aap saath to mar jaate ham kabhi ke
poore huye hain aap se, armaan zindagi ke
ham zindagi ko aapki
ham zindagi ko aapki
ham zindagi ko aapki saugaat kahenge
tum din ko agar raat kaho, raat kahenge
jo tumko ho pasand, wohi baat kahenge
chaahenge, nibahenge, saraahenge aap hi ko
chaahenge, nibahenge, saraahenge aap hi ko
aankhon mein nam hai jab tak, dekhenge aap hi ko
apni zubaan se aapse
apni zubaan se aapse
apni zubaan se aapse jazbaat kahenge
tum din ko agar raat kaho, raat kahenge
jo tumko ho pasand, wohi baat kahenge
jo tumko ho pasand, wohi baat kahenge

thanks atul
with limited orchestra in those days still what marvelous songs they could make. these days with all the technological advancement the tune is going from bad to worse. Otherday Javed akthar while interviewing Lata on a TV channel quoted Lata saying quote “old days we have orchestra to give some rest for the singers and these days singers are there to give rest for the orchestra” It seems so true.
