Dil ko dekho chehra na dekho

These days, corporates, and even places viz states and countries have their brand ambassadors who sell their products in a particular market. For instance, SRK sells Hyundai cars, Big B used to sell Uttar Pradesh, and so on.
But even the most gullible fans would not believe that these brand ambassadors mean what they advertise. No one realistically believes that SRK drives a Hyundai Santro or that Big B goes around in UP without security since there are less crimes in UP ( as his own ad used to suggest).
If the country of Holland ( where a big fan of this blog resides) ever decides to advertise their country in India, they should unhesitatingly sign up Mumtaz. First reason is of course that she still has lots of fans. The second and more important resaon is that she used to sport Holland’s national colours in most of her movies, and that makes her a natural and real brand ambassador of Holland. Yes, orange colour that Mumtaz used to don in most of her movies also happens to be the national colour of Holland.
I have already posted many Mumtaz songs where she is seen doing brand -ambassadoring for Holland. In case you do not believe me, or are too lazy to look them up, here is another Mumtaz song to prove my point.
Well, in this song it is Rajesh Khanna, who sings ( in Kishore Kumar’s voice) and Mumtaz is just a bystander, wearing a sexy dress, orange of course.
And what a song this is !. Just listenning to it is enough to feel like dancing. And watching the video alongwith the song is quite an uplifting experience. This song was, and continues to be a favourite with band parties that accompany baraats in India.
Kudos to the creaters of this song viz. the music directors( Kalyanji Anandji), lyricist ( Indeewar) and the singer ( Kishore Kumar) and of course the dance director of this song. This song has been my favourite song from this movie since childhood.

Song-Dil ko dekho chehra na dekho (Sachcha Jhootha) (1970) Singer-Kishore Kumar, Lyrics-Indeewar, MD-Kalyanji Anandji
Lyrics
dil ko dekho, chehraa na dekho
dil ko dekho, chehraa na dekho
chehron ne laakhon ko lootaa
haan, dil sachchaa aur chehraa jhoothaa,
dil sachchaa aur chehraa jhoothaa
dil ko dekho, chehraa na dekho
chehron ne laakhon ko lootaa
haan, dil sachchaa aur chehraa jhoothaa,
dil sachchaa aur chehraa jhoothaa
jo apni sachchi soorat dikhaa den, aise nahin duniyaawaale
sab ne hi apne chehron ke aage, jhooth ke parde hain daale
meethi hothon pe baat, dil mein rahti hai ghaat
dil kaa honthon se naataa hi jhoothaa
haan, dil sachchaa aur chehraa jhoothaa,
dil sachchaa aur chehraa jhoothaa
dil ko dekho chehra na dekho
tan se to aazaad ham ho gaye hain, man se gayi naa ghulaami
pardeshi bhaashhaa aur veshh ko hi, dete hain ab tak salaami
bhoolkar apnaa rang, seekhe auron kaa dhang
apnepan kaa chalan hamse chhootaa
haan, dil sachchaa aur chehraa jhothaa,
dil sachchaa aur chehraa jhothaa
dil sachchaa aur chehraa jhothaa
dil ko dekho chehra na dekho
marzi tumhaari tum kuchh bhi samjho, jo ham hain wo ham hi jaane
rang roop dekhe to dekhe zamaanaa, ham pyaar ke hain deewaane
pooje dhan ko sansaar, hame man se hai pyaar
dhan kisi baat par hamse roothaa
haan, dil sachchaa aur chehraa jhoothaa,
dil sachchaa aur chehraa jhoothaa
dil ko dekho, chehraa na dekho
chehron ne laakhon ko lootaa
haay, dil sachchaa aur chehraa jhoothaa,
dil sachchaa aur chehraa jhoothaa

Ha ha ha.
Thoroughly enjoyed reading your intro to this song 🙂
Mumu, thank you for “brand-ambassadoring” for Holland.
I am sure Atul will do some “brand-ambassodoring” of his own by posting some more such songs of yours in orange. 🙂
This was one of the first movies I remember seeing in my life and understanding the story. Nice song.

Hey, I did not say I saw this movie as it was released..in the 60s.
I don’t remember exactly when I saw this movie but maybe it was when I was at an age when I could understand movies.
Before that I had seen movies but I would not be able to follow the entire flow of the movie. In the end the hero would bash up the villain and get the heroine – THE END. 🙂
