Many of the big heroes of 1950s and 1960s owe a lot of their success to Rafi. Many movies of those days succeeded mainly because of the songs, and Rafi was the male singer in these songs.

Ghulabi aankhen jo teri dekhin

Watching the picturisation of this song, I cannot help feeling that the maker of this movie must have had Shammi Kapoor in mind while picturising this song. And indeed, when one listens to this song, one gets the feeling that one is listening to one of the Rafi songs sung for Shammi Kapoor.

This movie “Brahmachari” reminds me so much of “Mr. India”, or rather, “Mr. India” should remind me of “Brahmachari” considering that “Brahmachari” was released two decades earlier.
