Gore rang pe na itna gumaan kar

on:It has been a quite a while since I last posted a Rajesh Khanna-Mumtaz song. So I present one more such song.
In a way this song is a true representative of most Rajesh Khanna- Mumtaz songs as it includes just about all the characteristics of such songs. Let me elaborate them in detail.
For one, the music is a typical Anand Bakshi lyrics and the typically lilting music of Laxmikant Pyarelal, one that makes you feel like getting up and dancing. And of course, the song is sung by Kishore Kumar and Lata.
The picturisation is typical too. Rajesh Khanna is seen dancing in his usual manner, and Mumtaz, as was usual with her is seen brand ambassadoring for Holland, wearing orange clothes all over.
Orange she may well be wearing, phir bhi dil hai Hindustani. And she proceeds on to prove that by shedding her orange clothes. Now, do not get any naughty ideas. She reveals blue clothes under the orange, and two para into the song, she is dancing in Indian blue colours rather than Holland orange. ( The fact that the blue looks more Sri Lankan than Indian should be attributed to poetic license that is every Bollywood movie’s birthright).
And no Rajesh Khanna-Mumtaz song is complete without the two of them getting drenched. and so it happens. The two get wet in rain and continue to sing and dance, without changing their clothes even once.
I think that the two of them would have made good brand ambassadors for a detergent powder too, seeing hos they seemed to get their clothes wet in just about every duet song. Too bad that the Indian market was not that evolved during those days.
Song- Gore rang pe na itna gumaan kar (Roti ) (1974) Singers-Kishore,Lata, Lyrics-Anand Bakshi, MD-Laxmikant Pyarelal
Lyrics
gore rang pe naa itnaa gumaan kar
goraa rang do din mein dhal jaayegaa
gore rang pe naa itnaa gumaan kar
goraa rang do din mein dhal jaayegaa
main shamaa hoon tu hai parwaanaa
main shamaa hoon tu hai parwaanaa
mujhse pahle tu jal jaayegaa
gore rang pe naa itnaa gumaan kar
goraa rang do din mein dhal jaayegaa
ho roop mit jaataa hai ye pyaar ai dildaar nahin mitataa
ho ho phool murjhaane se gulzaar o sarkaar nahin mitataa
ho roop mit jaataa hai ye pyaar ai dildaar nahin mitataa
kyaa baat kahi hai hoy taubaa
kyaa baat kahi hai hoy taubaa
ye dil beimaan machal jaayegaa
ho gore rang pe naa itnaa gumaan kar
goraa rang do din mein dhal jaayegaa
o o aapko hai aisaa inkaar to ye pyaar yahin chhodo
o o pyaar kaa mausam hai bekaar ki takraar yahin chhodo
o o aapko hai aisaa inkaar to ye pyaar yahin chhodo
haathon mein haath zaraa de-do
haathon mein haath zaraa de-do
baaton mein waqt nikal jaayegaa
main shamaa hoon tu hai parwaanaa
mujhse pahle tu jal jaayegaa
o o
o o main tujhe kar daaloon masroor nashe mein choor to maanoge
o o tumse main ho jaaun kuchh door e maghroor ho maanoge
o o main tujhe kar daaloon masroor nashe mein choor to maanoge
tu laakh bachaa mujhse daaman
tu laakh bachaa mujhse daaman
ye husn kaa jaadoo chal jaayegaa
ho gore rang pe naa itnaa gumaan kar
goraa rang do din mein dhal jaayegaa

Wow…this is my #1 Rajesh-Mumtaz song.
These two had so much chemistry they came up with so many good songs but this song takes the cake.
Everything about this song is just perfect.
