Atul’s Song A Day- A choice collection of Hindi Film & Non-Film Songs

Piya ham saat mulk ka paani, sabse meetha Hindustaani

Posted on: March 30, 2009

This is a very special song for this blog. This song is the 1000th song being posted in this song. So I wanted this song to be a special song. And I believe the song that I have chosen for the occasion is nearly perfect.

For one, I was looking for a song that was good to listen to, and at the same time not all that common to find, a song that people had forgotten ( or never heard in the first place). I found that this song was not available on internet. That gave me the opportunity to upload this song specially for the occasion and give my readers the opportunity to savour this song for the first time on internet.

This song is from “Lootmaar”, but unlike two of its songs (viz “jab chaaye mera jaadu” and “hans tu hardam”), this song is forgotten, and its video was not available till now.

This song should warm the cockles of the Indian diaspora spread all over the world. I am sure this song will make all Indians ( especially those living outside India) a bit misty eyed.

So here is this song, the 1000th song of this blog.

And I take this opportunity to thank all my readers whose encouragement (visits, comments etc) have made this blog an important blog for those who want to savour the best songs that Bollywood music world has to offer. I hope that this blog will go from strength to strength and I will be able to add many more thousands of songs to this blog in the times to come.

Song-Piya ham saat mulk ka paani sabse meetha hindustaani (Lootmaar) (1980) Singers-Kishore Kumar, Mehmood, Lyrics-Amit Khanna, MD-Rajesh Roshan

Lyrics

Piya ham saat mulk ka paani
sabse meethha Hindustaani
Piya ham saat mulk ka paani
sabse meethha Hindustaani
nach devi tum
nach devi tum
tere liye leke aaye
dekho ham ghunghroo
waah re waah
India waah
waah waah waah
piya ham saat mulk ka paani
sabse meethha Hindustani
piya ham saat mulk ka paani
sabse meethha Hindustaani
nach devi tum
nach devi tum
tere liye leke aaye
dekho ham ghunghroo
waah re waah
India waah
waah waah waah

saadi mein jo lipta
tera khil uthha
badan badan badan
correct
saadi mein jo lipta
tera khil uthha
badan badan badan
ayyo kuch bhi kaho
saahab ki baaton mein hai
wazan wazan wazan

shahar ki galiyon mein
dhoondha jise kaliyon me
khushboo thhi ??
waah re waah
India waah
waah waah waah
piya ham saat mulk ka paani
sabse meethha Hindustaani
piya ham saat mulk ka paani
sabse meethha Hindustaani

nach devi tum
nach devi tum
tere liye leke aaye
dekho ham ghunghroo
waah re waah
India waah
waah waah waah

sharmaati hain sab ladkiyaan
kya yahaan is tarah tarah tarah
wende wende
nahin ji
ye sharmaayengi
aap kahen jis tarah tarah tarah

hamko to inki har adaa pyaari lage lage lage
aiyyo tauba kahin ishq ki na beemaari lage lage lagelage
sau baar dil diya sau baar dil liya
pyaar apna shauq hai
waah re waah
India waah
waah waah waah
piya ham saat mulk ka paani
sabse meetha Hindustaani
piya ham saat mulk ka paani
sabse meethha Hindustaani
dhagdhag dhum
dhagdhag dhum
dhagdhag dhagdag
dhagdhag dhagdag
kaisa thhai
aisa thhai
aiyyo
thhai thhai thhai
piya ham saat mulk ka paani
sabse meetha Hindustani
Piya ham saat mulk ka paani
sabse meetha Hindustani

Wow! 1000 songs! I really applaud your patience and sincerity in finding these old gems, writing out the lyrics and then doing a write up for each song. This is truly a labor of love!

I have never heard this song before, but it is an interesting song.

Thanks a lot, Lalitha. This blog is indeed a labour of love.

If you did not hear this song earlier, then this is just the ideal 1000th song for my blog. If one missed this song when this movie was released, then there was no way one could have listened to this song again, because it then went into oblivion.

Atul, first of all many many congratulations for getting to 1000 songs !!!
What a stupendous achievement !!!
I can only imagine the hours and hours you have put into this – your labour of love.

I think by now your blog has become the de facto source of Hindi songs for a worldwide audience. You should be proud of yourself – it is certainly an outstanding achievement.

Coming to this song, you have beaten me. 🙂
I should be knowing this song – but I do not 😦
That in fact made it even more fun to listen to – it is a very nice, catchy song (still lingering on in my mind). And you are right, it makes me nostalgic about India.

Thanks for this and, without putting any pressure whatsoever on you :-), looking forward to the next 100 (let’s work 100 at a time !).

Thanks a lot, Raja. Your appreciation means a lot to me, and you have been the first visitor, first commentator of this blog as well as the most prolific farmaish sender. In fact, one day I hope to see 1000 songs on your farmaishes ( there are already over 100 such songs in this blog at present. 🙂
