It is a very well known song. And you guessed it, I was not aware of its details except the name of the singer.
And tell me, how many people know that this song is from a 1959 movie called “Guest House” ? There are not too many people who know that Prem Dhawan is the lyricist and Chitragupta the music director of this song.
And there is more. How many people know that Ajit ( the arch villain of later years) is the hero of this movie ? In this song, he is seen playing a piano in this party song. Shakila sings this lovely song, while Ajit flirts with her, much to the dsapproval of Pran ( another arch villain).
Even without the picturisation, the song itself is a timeless classic.

I was just singing this song to myself, thought I would look it up, so I turned to my encyclopedia – this site, of course! All the details are right here, but unfortunately, the song isn’t! Anyway, I just finished listening to it on Youtube, and I now have a big smile on my face, the kind of smile that comes when you meet an old friend, in this case, a song which is like an old friend. Beautiful!
