Aao tumhen chaand pe le jaayen

I had listened to this fine song in 1970s, but I was not aware about its details. Now I know its details and I am pleasantly surprised to know that this song is from “Zakhmee” (1975).
“Zakhmee” already has some wonderful songs in it that I am aware of, viz “jalta hai jiyaa mera”, “aali re aali re holi” and “abhi abhi thi dushmani”.
For a considerable period, I thought that the music of this movie was by R D Burman. But then I found that the music is by Bappi Lahiri who made his debut as a music director in this movie ! And what a fine debut he made !
Here is this lovely song from this movie that goes “aao tumhe chaand pe le jaayen”. This song is sung by Lata and it is picturised on Asha Parekh, Sunil Dutt and a kid travelling in a car. The song is written by Gauhar Kanpuri.
This song is a gem that can be listened to several times without feeling bored.

Song-Aao tumhe chaand pe le jaayen (Zakhmee) (1975) Singer-Lata, Lyrics- Gauhar Kanpuri, MD-Bappi Lahiri
Lyrics
jingle bell jingle bell
jingle all the way
santa clause is coming along
riding on a sledge
jingle bell jingle bell
jingle all the way
santa clause is coming along
riding on a sledge
lalalalala
ye santa chause ka ghar kahaan hai
chaand pe
hamen bhi wahaan pe le chaliye na
Aao tumhe Chaand pe le jaayen
pyaar bhare sapne sajaayen
chhota sa banglaa banaayen
ek nayi duniya basaayen
ho
aao tumhe chaand pe le jaayen
pyaar bhare sapne sajaayen
chhota sa banglaa banaayen
ek nayi duniya basaayen
ho
aao tumhe chaand pe le jaayen
pyaar ki hai duniya
door aasmaan pe
mil ke na bichhde
koyi wahaan pe
aisi bhi ek dagar hai
aisa bhi ek nagar hai
ho
aao tumhe chaand pe le jaayen
pyaar bhare sapne sajaayen
chhota sa banglaa banaayen
ek nayi duniya basaayen
ho
aao tumhe chaand pe le jaayen
gham jahaan soye
aur khushi jaage
aas ki hai manzil
taaron ke aage
dil wahaan rote nahin hain
aansoon to hote nahin hain
ho
aao tumhe chaand pe le jaayen
pyaar bhare sapne sajaayen
chhota sa banglaa banaayen
ek nayi duniya basaayen

I really like the words, something that all kids should listen too, so they too can share the same feeling when they get older as posts above.

A song from my childhood days. I remember this very well. It was just before Sunil Dutt dies (in the movie of course). 🙂
