Meri zindagi mein aate to kuchh aur baat hoti

I have listened to this song many a times and enjoyed listening to it. But I was not aware of the details of the song except that the song was sung by Rafi.
Recently, when I listened to this song again, I searched for its details and realised that this song is from “Kanyaadaan” (1968). As it is, I have posted two superb songs from this movie. The fact that this song too is from “Kanyaadaan” (1968) comes as a pleasant surprise to me.
Here is this song “meri zindagi mein aate to kuchh aur baat hoti”, which is picturised as a party/ get together song where Shashi Kapoor is asked to sing a song. And as is usual in occasions like this in a Bollywood movie, Shashi Kapoor uses this opportunity to address the lady (Asha Parekh), instead of addressing other burning issues of the world, and the lady is left embarrassed at all this attention.
Hasrat Jaipuri is the lyricist and Shankar Jaikishan composed this song. It is a superb song. Indeed this movie is full of some wonderful songs, though the movie itself failed to capitalise on these songs, I am told.
Of course, one can enjoy a song like this even without watching the movie, and for that matter, even without watching the picturisation of the song even. It is the audio of this song that is all you need to savour it. And this song is worth savouring.

Song-Meri zindagi mein aate to kuchh aur baat hoti (Kanyaadaan) (1968) Singer-Rafi, Lyrics-Hasrat Jaipuri, MD-Shankar Jaikishan
Lyrics
unki zulfen unke chehre se hataa saktaa nahin
dil ki betaabi kisi soorat chhupaa saktaa nahin
kitni dilkash hain muhabbat ki jawaan majbooriyaan
saamne manzil hai aur paanv badhaa saktaa nahin
meri zindagi mein aate
to kuchh aur baat hoti
to kuchh aur baat hoti
meri zindagi mein aate
to kuchh aur baat hoti
to kuchh aur baat hoti
ye naseeb jagmagaate
to kuchh aur baat hoti
to kuchh aur baat hoti
kayi baar mil chukin hain
ye haseen-haseen nigaahen
kayi baar mil chukin hain
ye haseen-haseen nigaahen
wo hi beqaraariyaan hain
na mili khushi ki raahen
mere dil se dil milaate
to kuchh aur baat hoti
to kuchh aur baat hoti
meri zindagi mein aate
to kuchh aur baat hoti
to kuchh aur baat hoti
mujhe kyaa gharaz kisi se
hanse phool yaa sitaare
mujhe kyaa gharaz kisi se
hanse phool yaa sitaare
hain meri nazar mein pheeke
ye jawaan-jawaan nazaare
agar aap muskaraate
to kuchh aur baat hoti
to kuchh aur baat hoti
meri zindagi mein aate
to kuchh aur baat hoti
to kuchh aur baat hoti
ye khushi rahe salaamat
yoon hi jashn ho suhaanaa
ye khushi rahe salaamat
yoon hi jashn ho suhaanaa
jise sun rahi hai duniyaa
mere dil kaa hai taraanaa
mere saath tum bhi gaate
to kuchh aur baat hoti
to kuchh aur baat hoti
meri zindagi mein aate
to kuchh aur baat hoti
to kuchh aur baat hoti
ye naseeb jagmagaate
to kuchh aur baat hoti
to kuchh aur baat hoti

That living room has featured in so many movies. Shashi is nice but there is a Dharmendra song (Ye shamma to jali) in the same style that is nicer (both song and visuals).
