Kaun sunegaa kisko sunaayen

Posted on: August 27, 2010

Kishore Kumar is mostly known for singing happy songs. But he has sung sad songs as well , and they are more in number than we tend to believe. And out of all these songs that he has sung, there are some gems that are less known than they should be. For instance, I have posted his sad songs from “Nishaan” (Lahron ki tarah yaadein ) and “Begaana”(Matlabi hain log yahan par ) in this blog which are absolute gems.

Here is another sad song par excellence from a movie called “Sautan Ki Beti” (1989). This song “kaun sunega kisko sunaayen” is a get together song that is lip synced by Sumeet Saigal in a party attended by the likes of Jeetendra, Rekha, Vijayendra, Jaya Prada etc.

Considering that the movie had the word “Sautan” in it, one can easily guess that the movie was made by Saawan Kumar Tak. Saawan Kumar Tak also doubles up as the lyricist. In his lyrics, he would mention the word “Saawan” which was his way of watermarking his lyrics. 😀

The song is sung superbly by Kishore Kumar. This son and the movie were in fact released in 1989, two years after the death of Kishore Kumar. That way, this song is one of the last great songs sung by Kishore Kumar.

Here is this song from “Sautan Ki Beti” (1989), which is an absaolute gem.

Song-Kaun sunegaa kisko sunaayen (Sautan Ki Beti) (1989) Singer-Kishore Kumar, Lyrics-Sawan Kumar Tak, MD-Vedpal

Lyrics

kaun sunegaa
kisko sunaayen
is liye chup rahte hain

kaun sunegaa
kisko sunaayen
kaun sunegaa
kisko sunaayen
is liye chup rahte hain
hamse apne
rooth na jaayen
hamse apne
rooth na jaayen
is liye chup rahte hain

meri soorat dekhne waalon
main bhi ik aayinaa thaa
meri soorat dekhne waalon
main bhi ik aayinaa thaa
toota jab ye sheeha e dil
saawan ka maheena thaa
tukde dil ke
kisko dikhaayen
tukde dil ke
kisko dikhaayen
is liye chup rahte hain
hamse apne
rooth na jaayen
hamse apne
rooth na jaayen
is liye chup rahte hain

aaj khushi ki is mehfil mein
apna jee bhar aayaa hai
aaj khushi ki is mehfil mein
apna jee bhar aayaa hai
man ki koi baat nahin hai
hamen khushi ne rulaayaa hai
aankh se aansoo
bah naa jaaye
aankh se aansoo
bah naa jaaye
is liye chup rahte hain
hamse apne
rooth na jaayen
hamse apne
rooth na jaayen
is liye chup rahte hain

Thank you for posting one of my favorite songs.
I have to point out two things here.

1. In the 4th stanza i think the lyrics should read like this:

aaj khushi ki is mehfil mein
apna jee bhar aayaa hai

ghum ki koi baat nahin hai

hamen khushi ne rulaayaa hai

2. In the version I have with me there is one more stanza as given below:

pyar ke phul chune the humne
khushi ki sej sajane ko
pyar ke phul chune the humne
khushi ki sej sajane ko
patjhad ban ke aayi baharen
ghar mein aag lagane ko
aag mein ghum ki jal na jaye
aag mein ghum ki jal na jaye
is liye chup rahte hain

You can listen to that version by downloading a mp3 file from the following location:

Please do not construe this as an unhealthy criticism. You are doing a wonderful job and I am grateful to you for all the lovely songs you have presented on your blog. I love your blog and am always eagerly awaiting the songs you post. With your help I have augmented and enriched my collection further.

thanks

Song from 1989. That’s a news 🙂

I have also tons of request for songs from early 80’s. Give a shot, you may like few:)

This is a nice song. And, were all over radio/dd in late 80’s. Following two songs from this movie were also very popular.

Ham bhool gaye re har baat
Yeh jo halka halka suroor hai
