Na koi prem ka rog lagaaye

When I was a kid, I disliked listening to old songs, especially the songs in Radio Ceylon’s “Puraani filmon ke geet” which was broadcast from 7-30 AM to 8-AM. I in fact found the singing style of these old songs quite funny. And I would find the singing of K L Saigal the funniest of them all.
Now that I have matured (hopefully), I have turned over a new leaf and I admire K L Saigal and other old singers. Now I find their songs of great significance. They laid the foundation on which the magnificent edifice of the goldern era of Hindi movie songs was built. The old sytle singers were the pioneers who paved the way for the settlers.
I have posted quite a few songs of K L Saigal in this blog. Here is another one. This song is from “President” (1937). This song is sung by K L Saigal and it is picturised on himself. Kidar Sharma is the lyricist and R C Boral is the music director.
K L Saigal
song-Na koi prem ka rog lagaaye (President) (1937) Singer-K L Saigal, Lyrics-Kidar Sharma, MD-R C Boral
Lyrics
na koi prem ka rog lagaaye
na koi prem ka rog lagaaye
na koi prem ka rog lagaaye
na koi prem ka rog lagaaye
paasi(?) ang ang rach jaaye
paasi(?) ang ang rach jaaye
na koi prem ka rog lagaaye
prem ka rog lagaaye
premi ke is bhole pan par
sab duniya muskaaye
premi ke is bhole pan par
sab duniya muskaaye
roop ke chit ko man mein rakhkar
roop ke chit ko man mein rakhkar
aag se aag bujhaaye
aag se aag bujhaaye
na koi prem ka rog lagaaye
prem ka rog lagaaye
gali gali mein tam ko dhondhe
gali gali mein tam ko dhondhe
jag se aankh bachaaye
jag se aankh bachaaye
aa
man mein dee phar phar ke roye
aankhon mein muskaaye
man mein dee phar phar ke roye
aankhon mein muskaaye
na koi prem ka rog lagaaye
prem ka rog lagaaye

I think in the fifth line it could be ‘phansi ang ang lag jaye’.
