Barbaad huyi dil ki duniyaa

Posted on: October 29, 2010

Not too many people are aware of this movie called “Jalpari” (1952). But I have found that this movie has some superb songs in it.

Here is a sad melancholic song from this movie. It is sung by Lata and it is picturised on Nalini Jaiwant and Ashok Kumar.

This movie had as many as four lyricists in it and it is not known whilch one out of Bharat Vyas,Ramesh Gupta,Noor Lucknowi andQamar Jalalbadi wrote this song. If any of the knowledgeable readers are aware of this fact, I request them to inform me so that I may be able to make the necessary corrections.

There is no doubt about the music director though. It was Pt Govindram who came up with this wonderful musical score.

Song-Barbaad huyi dil ki duniya(Jalpari) (1952) Singer-Lata, Lyrics-Bharat Vyas/Ramesh Gupta,Noor Lucknowi, Qamar Jalalbadi, MD-Pt Govind Ram

Lyrics

Jo tamanna dil mein thi
barbaad hokar rah gayi
zindagi mere liye
nashaad hokar rah gayi

barbaad huyi dil ki duniyaa
ulfat ke sahaare toot gaye
barbaad huyi dil ki duniyaa
ulfat ke sahaare toot gaye
ham jinke sahaare jeete thhe
ham jinke sahaare jeete thhe
afsos wo hamse rooth gaye
barbaad huyi dil ki duniyaa
ulfat ke sahaare toot gaye

samjhaa thha jinhe apnaa hamne
ummeed wafaa ki thi jinse
samjhaa thha jinhe apnaa hamne
ummeed wafaa ki thi jinse
manzil pe pahunchne se pahle
haaye wo hamse chhoot gaye
barbaad huyi dil ki duniyaa
ulfat ke sahaare toot gaye

aankhon mein samaaye jo aake
jeene ka sahaaraa thhaa jinse
aankhon mein samaaye jo aake
jeene ka sahaaraa thhaa jinse
qismat ki zara si thokar se
wo saare sapne toot gaye
ham jinke sahaare jeete thhe
ham jinke sahaare jeete thhe
afsos wo hamse rooth gaye
barbaad huyi dil ki duniyaa
ulfat ke sahaare toot gaye
