Husn waalon ko naa dil do

Posted on: December 6, 2010

I am aware of several well known songs of “Baabul” (1950) that I have already discussed. I have now stumbled against a song that was unknown to me.

This song is a get together song, where Dilip Kumar is asked to sing a song, while playing on a harmonium. Now, singing while playing a harmonium is much more realistic than singing while playing grand piano.

This song is sung by Talat Mehmood.Shakeel Badayuni is the lyricist and music is composed by Naushad.

Song-Husn waalon ko na dil do (Baabul) (1950) Singer-Talat Mehmood, Lyrics-Shakeel Badayuni, MD-Naushad

Lyrics

husn waalon ko na dil do
ye mitaa dete hain
husn waalon ko na dil do
ye mitaa dete hain
zindagi bhar ke liye
zindagi bhar ke liye
rog lagaa dete hain
zindagi
haay
zindagi bhar ke liye
rog lagaa dete hain

khoob karte hain ye
beemaar-e-muhabbat kaa ilaaz
khoob karte hain ye
beemaar-e-muhabbat kaa ilaaz
dard badhataa hi rahe
dard badhataa hi rahe
aisi dawaa dete hain
zindagi
haay
zindagi bhar ke liye
rog lagaa dete hain

haay kuchh in ki
muhabbat kaa bharosaa hi nahin
haay kuchh in ki
muhabbat kaa bharosaa hi nahin
pahle dil lete hain phir
pahle dil lete hain phir
dil se bhulaa dete hain
zindagi
haay
zindagi bhar ke liye
rog lagaa dete hain

dil lagaaye na
zamaane mein haseenon se koi
dil lagaaye na
zamaane mein haseenon se koi
log kahte hain ki ye
log kahte hain ki ye
milke dagaa dete hain
zindagi
haay
zindagi bhar ke liye
rog lagaa dete hain

Babul – what a lovely musical film it was! I got the opportunity to witness it in early 60s. Perhaps it was the first film of Tuntun as an actor. Chhod babul ka ghar… is an ever green/ ageless Bidai song which will ever be played when the girls leave their parents house after marriage.
