Most of the songs discussed in this blog are created by those who are well known names or the usual suspects, as one may call them. But that does not mean that they were the only talents out there. Even the lesser known artists have helped build a good body of work as far as Hindi movie music is concerned. It is another matter that many of these songs lie hidden and buried and they are required to be dug up.

I have discussed a railgaadi (Train) song where hero and heroine are seated on a haystack kept on a freight train. The train is in motion and the duo are singing a song accompanied by the rhythmic beat generated by the train.

I receive hundreds of farmaishes for songs that are not yet posted in this blog. Many of these farmaishes are for songs that are well known and/or relatively easily avaiable. Sometimes though, there are farmaishes for songs that are very difficult to find. There are cases where the farmaish giver was desperately seeking the song for years and even decades without success. It is highly satisfying for me when sometimes I am actually able to locate these elusive songs after some nice detective work.

Fans of my generation remember Ashok Kumar and Nirupa Roy for playing the roles of parents, but that was not always the case. In their younger days (it may be difficult to believe, but they were actually young as some time in the past), they actually acted in lead roles.

“Samrat Chandragupta” (1958) was one of those B grade movies that made it big mainly because of its music. Almost all its songs went on to become very popular and some of the songs are remembered to this day. I have discussed as many as four songs from this movie and it includes the evergreen song Chaahe paas ho chaahe door ho .

“Talaaq” (1958) is a lesser known movie which had Rajendra Kumar and Kamini Kadam in lead roles. Like the movie, even its songs are less known.

I had never heard of this movie called “Angaarey” (1954) not had I heard any songs from this movie. This movie had Nasir Khan and Nargis in it alongwith Pran and others.

“Mumtaz Mahal” (1944) is a by now forgotten movie. This movie has Khursheed in the title role with Chandramohan,Kajjan, Sulochana Chaterjee, Lala Yakub, Brajmala etc also figuring in this movie.

Hindi movies prior to the golden era (viz prior to 1949) had people about whom not much is known today. But it is clear that their contributions during their time in their fields of activity should not be forgotten.
