Atul’s Song A Day- A choice collection of Hindi Film & Non-Film Songs

Maine ae jaan e wafaa tumse muhabbat ki hai

Posted on: March 15, 2011

Though I have heard about movies called “Daag”, I was not aware of a movie called “Bedaag”. But yes, there is indeed one such movie that was released in 1965. Unlike “Daag”(1952) which had Dilip Kumar and Nimmi and “Daag” (1973) which had Rajesh Khanna and Sharmila Tagore,”Bedaag”(1965) did not have the reigning superstar of the day in its cast. This movie had Manoj Kumar and Nanda in lead roles.

When it comes to music,”Bedaag” (1965) has nice songs in it, even if the songs of this movie are not all that well known.

Here is a song from “Bedaag” (1965) which I heard for the first time just a few hours ago. This song is a duet sungby Rafi and Suman Kalyanpur. It is picturised on Manoj Kumar and Nanda. Shakeel Badayuni is the lyricist and music is composed by Roshan.

It is a forgotten gem, that needs to be better known among music lovers.

Song-Maine ae jaane wafaa (Bedaag) (1965) Singers-Rafi, Suman Kalyanpur, Lyrics-Shakeel Badayuni, MD-Roshan

Lyrics

maine ae jaan-e-wafaa tumse mohabbat ki hai
tumne ek dard mujhe de ke qayaamat ki hai
maine ae jaan-e-wafaa

is bharose pe ki mil jaaye sahaaraa mujhko
is bharose pe ki mil jaaye sahaaraa mujhko
tumpe qurbaan
tumpe qurbaan
dil-o-jaan ki daulat ki hai
maine ae jaan-e-wafaa tumse mohabbat ki hai
tumne ek dard mujhe de ke qayaamat ki hai
maine ae jaan-e-wafaa

husn sadke ho kisi par ye kahaan mumkin thaa
husn sadke ho kisi par ye kahaan mumkin thaa
tumne mujh par
tumne mujh par
meraa dil le ke inaayat ki hai
maine ae jaan-e-wafaa tumse mohabbat ki hai

dil jo apnaa thaa kabhi aaj tumhaaraa hai sanam
dil jo apnaa thaa kabhi aaj tumhaaraa hai sanam
ye tumhaari hi
ye tumhaari hi
nigaahon ne sharaarat ki hai
maine ae jaan-e-wafaa tumse muhabbat ki hai
tumne ek dard mujhe de ke qayaamat ki hai
maine ae jaan-e-wafaa

Bedaag had a very well known Rafi song Zindagi ke mod par jo koi rastaa mila teri gali se ja mila. This song had the typical Rafi-Roshan feel and I rank it among their best. You may add it on your blog.
