Meri padosan hai dil ki dushman

Posted on: September 7, 2011

“Simla Road” (1969) is a quintessential B grade movie which was forgotten almost as soon as it was released. This movie had Dev Kumar and Sarita in lead roles. Dev Kumar later found himself playing roles of villain’s henchman, whereas Sarita vanished from movies without a trace.

The music of this movie was its saving grace, as expected. But even the songs of this movie were not heard much. Personally I never heard any songs from this movie during those days when I was very much a keen music listener.

Here is a “teasing” song from this movie, where Dev Kumar sings about his padosan (female neighbour) who happens to be Sarita.

The song is sung by Rafi. It is written by Asad Bhopali and music is composed by Usha Khanna.

This song is very much an A grade song from a B grade movie that deserved to be better known among music lovers.

Song-Meri padosan hai dil ki dushman (Simla Road) (1969) Singer-Rafi, Lyrics-Asad Bhopali, MD-Usha Khanna

Lyrics

lalala
laalaalaa
laaalaaalaaa
lalalalalala

meri padosan
hai dil ki dushman
meri padosan
hai dil ki dushman
zaalim badi magroor hai
phir bhi ye dil
ussi pe jaan detaa hai
meri padosan
hai dil ki dushman
meri padosan
hai dil ki dushman

wo chham chham chham
kar ke chalti hai
haay
wo chham chham chham
kar ke chalti hai
dil dhak dhak dhak
kiya karta hai
wo chham chham chham
kar ke chalti hai
dil dhak dhak dhak
kiya karta hai
din raat uska naam liyaa karta hai
meri padosan
meri padosan
hai dil ki dushman
meri padosan
hai dil ki dushman
zaalim badi magroor hai
phir bhi ye dil
ussi pe jaan detaa hai

jo raat saath saath kabhi guzri hai
jo raat saath saath kabhi guzri hai
wo laakh laakh baar mujhse roothhi hai
jo raat saath saath kabhi guzri hai
wo laakh laakh baar mujhse roothhi hai
main jaanta hoon
berukhi ye jhhoothhi hai
meri padosan
meri padosan
hai dil ki dushman
meri padosan
hai dil ki dushman
zaalim badi magroor hai
phir bhi ye dil
ussi pe jaan detaa hai

wo door door door
mujhse rehti hai
haay
wo door door door
mujhse rehti hai
main saath saath saath
uske chalta hoon
wo door door door
mujhse rehti hai
main saath saath saath
uske chalta hoon
uske waaste ye raaste badalta hoon
meri padosan
meri padosan
hai dil ki dushman
meri padosan
hai dil ki dushman
zaalim badi magroor hai
phir bhi ye dil
ussi pe jaan detaa hai
lalalalala
ahahahahaha
ohooho oho
lalalalalala

Atul ji,
SARITA who featured in this film as the lead actress, started her career as the daughter of Shammi Kapoor in his first film “Jeevan Jyoti”(1953).She has acted in about 35 films since 1953.
She featured in House no.44,Love marriage,New Delhi,Kanhaiya,Mr.Romeo,Shaheed(65),Dawat,Kal aaj aur kal,An evening in paris,Ayee milan ki bela.her career spanned from 50s to 80s,but as a minor actor in the latter period. The last film she did was a Kannada film Erudu Rekhegalu-84.she had also featured in the film Gupt Gyan-1978.

with due respect to you,

I want to mention that Hindi film actress SARITA is different from Kannada, tamil, telugu,Malayalam movie actress SARITA

Saritha(whose name you have mentioned in your post)who acted in kannada movie “ERADU REKHEGALU(that means 2 parallel lines, which has been made in Hindi as SANJOG-starring amithab Bachchan,Aruna Irani, Mala sinha) is different sarita from the above hindi movie sarita.

Sarita acted in heroine`s role in Tamil movie,MARO CHARITRA(directed by her God father K.BALCHANDAR)(original of hindi blockbuster ek duje ke liye)

I exacly don`t know for which tamil movie perhaps she once received National Award for best actress for tamil movie “Achamillai achamillai”.She is a brilliant actress, who used to convey all her emotions through her eyes.

The one sarita who acted in kannada movies , is also a tamil movie actress, who was a favourite actress of the ace Tamil movie director K.BALCHANDAR(who re-introduced rajanikant, kamal hassan, srividya, ramesh aravind,Prakash Rai, Geeta, etc)

She has also acted in other kannada movies with kannada matinee idol late RAAJKUMAR-
Haalujenu,Keralida Simha,HosaBelaku,BhaktaPrahlaad,kaamanabillu,

with other kannada actors: Jeevakke jeeva,Hennina koogu,Mounageethe,Maanasaveene,Baalondu bhaavageete,Kurukshethra,Mugila mallige,Malaya Marutha

Sorry, One small CORRECTION,
Sarita didn`t acted in Haalu jenu, she just sang a song for movie HAALUJENU alongwith Raajkumar, she is a regular heroine once at famous Kannada Movie RAAJKUMAR`s camp.
Few years back she married Malayalam actor MUKESH,but somewhere I have read that they have got separated and nowadays she became very plump and once appeared in a Malayalam Television serial.

Prakash ji,
Thank you for the correction.I inadvertantly included the name of the kannada movie,as I have a stock of Telugu,Tamil and Kannada movie datas too(in a limited way).Incidently, the spelling of the south actress must be SARITHA and not Sarita,I guess.

a slight correction. “marO charitra” was originally a telugu film, made by Balachander. It was released as a Telugu film in Tamila Nadu and ran for an year there. It is later, much later, that a Telugu production company (Prasad Productions, who also made Milan in hindi, after the hugely successful telugu original, “mooga manasulu”) bought the rights to it and remade the hindi version.

“Maro Charithra is a Telugu film starring Kamal Haasan and Saritha in the lead. It was one of the biggest hits at the box office. Released in 1978, it was remade in Hindi as “Ek Duuje Ke Liye” in 1981.” – http://tinyurl.com/3z7hdyg, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maro_Charithra

Sorry Krishnaji for that slip,
Thanks for that correction.
Yes, I haven`t watched that film, but read about that and in a hurry without checking I have written “maro charithram” as tamil movie
but P.Sushila`s solo song from that movie, still haunts me(even though I don`t understand a single word of telugu, …don`t laugh at my recollections-“Yekintha poovolu, yekomma chesino..yninthi anubandhmounam, chelisi teliyadi abhimaanmu”

Please don`t mind my faulty telugu, sorry I don`t know a word of TELUGU.
