Aankhon mein intezaar ki duniya liye huye

Posted on: October 2, 2011

“Caravan” (1944) is a Ranjit Movietone movie . It was produced by Chandulal Shah and it was directed by aspi Irani. The movie had actors like Arunkumar,Kesari,Kamala Chatterjee(Chatopadhyaya),Premlata,Sylvie st.Clair etc. in it.

I had discussed one song from this movie in the past which was sung by Amirbai Karnataki. Here is another song from this movie. This song is sung by Zohrabai Ambalewaali.

The song is written by Aziz Kashmiri. Music is composed by Bulo C Rani.

I have no idea about how and on whom this song is picturised. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw more light on the picturisation of this movie.
PS-Now thanks to the details provided by our inhouse movie encyclopaedia Mr Arunkumar Deshmukh, we know that this song is picturised on Premlata.

Song-Aankhon mein intezaar ki duniyaa liye huye (Caravan) (1944) Singer-Zohrabai Ambalewaali, Lyrics-Aziz Kashmiri, MD-Bulo C Rani

Lyrics

aankhon mein intezaar ki duniyaa liye huye
aankhon mein intezaar ki duniyaa liye huye
baithhi hoon
baithhi hoon dil mein teri tamannaa liye huye
baithhi hoon dil mein teri tamannaa liye huye
aankhon mein intezaar ki duniyaa liye huye

ban jaawo tum bahaar dil-e-naamuraad ki
ban jaawo tum bahaar dil-e-naamuraad ki
aa jaawo zindagi kaa sahaaraa liye huye
aa jaawo zindagi kaa sahaaraa liye huye
baithhi hoon dil mein teri tamannaa liye huye
aankhon mein intezaar ki duniyaa liye huye

har simt dhoondhti hain
har simt dhoondhti hai tumhin ko nigaah-e-zauk
har simt dhoondhti hai tumhin ko nigaah-e-zauk
pehloo mein apne dard tumhaaraa liye huye
pehloo mein apne dard tumhaaraa liye huye
baithhi hoon dil mein teri tamannaa liye huye
aankhon mein intezaar ki duniyaa liye huye

What a lovely voice. Wish someone does know on whom it was picturized.

Atul ji,
CARAVAN-1944 was yet another roll out from the stable of Ranjit’s assembly-line production of 1944.
It had 15 songs, sung by the big names of the times,Amirbai,Zohrabai,Arunkumar,Bhola etc. This was the only plus point of this movie.
There is a Gypsie caravan, led by an old Nayak-Sheroo.He decides to hand over the reigns of the caravan in the hands of his son-Shankar,who is slightly literate and very good looking.Naturally all the eligible girls around, surround him to get his attention. He has to win the Chief’s post by doing something brave and full of valour.
The caravan finds a ‘Gori Mem’-Marie(played by an Anglo indian- Sylvie St. Clair), half dead in the way. They revive her and the responsibility of finding her relatives falls on Shankar, since he is somewhat literate, among all.The lovebird-Shanno(Premlata) of the caravan gets jealous of Marie, who gets cosy with Shankar.
The above song is filmed on Premlata.
The confusion is removed after few reels and in the end Marie goes away and the Hero/Heroine live happily ever after.

Hi, I believe that Sylvie St Clair is not an Anglo-Indian, but Franco-American actress an singer. She was in the ENSA company during the WW II. Do you have photographs of this film?
