Kho gaya hai mera pyaar

Posted on: October 22, 2011

“Hariyali Aur Raasta” (1962) is a Shri Prakash Pictures Production. The movie was produced by Vijay Bhatt and directed by Shankarbhai Bhatt. The starcast of the movie included names like Mala Sinha, Manoj kumar, Jagdeep, Shashikala, Helen,Manmohan Krishna,Krishna Kumari, Surendra,Om Prakash,Samar Roy etc.

Here is a boat song from this movie. This song shows Mala Sinha and Manoj Kumar aboard a boat being rowed by a boatman. The leading duo appaer estranged from each other and they do not seem to be on talking terms with each other.

While the boat is moving towards its destination, the boatman bursts into this song. The song serves the purpose of expressing the feelings of his two passengers.

This song, which I heard for the first time only just now, is sung by Mahendra Kapoor. Hasrat Jaipuri is the lyricist. Music is composed by Shankar Jaikishan.

The lyrics of this song and other details were sent to me by Prakashchandra.

I request our knowledgeable readers to help identify the boatman who lip syncs this song.

Song-Kho gaya hai mera pyaar (Hariyali Aur Raasta) (1962) Singer-Mahendra Kapoor, Lyrics-Hasrat Jaipuri, MD-Shankar Jaikishan

Lyrics(Provided by Prakashchandra)

ho o o
kho gaya hai mera pyaar
kho gaya hai mera pyaar
kho gaya hai mera pyaar
mera pyaar
dhoondhta hoon main mera pyaar
dhoondhta hoon main mera pyaar
kho gaya hai mera pyaar
mera pyaar
kho gaya hai mera pyaar

aise toofaan mein chhodkar
chal diya dil ko todkar
gam ki maujon mein haaye koi
chhup gaya munh ko modkar
chhup gaya munh ko modkar
kho gaya hai mera pyaar
kho gaya hai mera pyaar
kho gaya hai mera pyaar
mera pyaar
dhoondhta hoon main mera pyaar
o ho o o ohoo

zindagaani udaas hai
woh kahaan kiske paas hai
gehri nadiyaa bataa de tu
mujhko milne ki aas hai
mujhko milne ki aas hai
kho gaya hai mera pyaar
kho gaya hai mera pyaar
kho gaya hai mera pyaar
mera pyaar
dhoondtha hoon main mera pyaar

chalti saanson mein shor hai
teri yaadon ka zor hai
ghatke dil ko qaraar nahin
jaane kaisa ye daur hai
jaane kaisa ye daur hai
kho gaya hai mera pyaar
kho gaya hai mera pyaar
kho gaya hai mera pyaar
mera pyaar
dhoondhta hoon main mera pyaar
dhoondhta hoon main mera pyaar
kho gaya hai mera pyaar
mera pyaar
kho gaya hai mera pyaar
kho gaya hai mera pyaar
kho gaya hai mera pyaar

Arun ji,

In the story on screen, the two leading characters are not in the boat together. Mala Sinha is on the boat, and Manoj Kumar is by the side of the river. And they are both unaware of each other’s presence in this particular scene.

The situation for the song is as follows. Manoj Kumar and Mala Sinha are childhood sweethearts, but after growing up, the circumstances dictate Manoj to be married to another lady (Shashikala), and in despair, Mala Sinha leaves her home and departs to lead a life of annonymity elsewhere. Things do not work out between Manoj and Shashikala, and their marriage is broken. Manoj Kumar then sets out to search for Mala Sinha, and it is in this phase of the film that this song is set. At the end of the song, Manoj even exchanges a couple of dialogues with the boatman, but (as per director’s orders, I am sure), the erstwhile lovers are not yet ordained to meet. And some more storyline and reels are to be played before they do.

Regarding the identity of the boatman – just guessing, could it be BM Vyas? Other readers, please confirm or shoot down this suggestion.

Oops,
The earlier comment is addressed to Atul ji.
But of course, the last query is addressed to all, including Arun ji.

Sudhir ji,
I do not think B.M.Vyas was in the film at all.It is 100 % NOT him.
The boatman looks like Ram Mohan to me.

He is Jagdish Raj – the recordbreaking type caste – the Inspector! His eyes and eyebrows!! This is my guess as he has been uncredited in several films.

Jagdish Raj was NOT in the film at all.

It can not be jagadish raj, (eventhough resemblances are there)the actor in the movie is already in his middle age, at that time Jagdish raj was very young.
I have first seen Jagdish raaj in 1960 Bombai ka babu, where he was very young in a role of DevAnand`s friend, who gets murdered and dev anand retuns to jagdish raj`s parents’ home impersonating as their son, who left the home at his childhood.
