Pyaar ke iss khel mein do dilon ke mel mein

Posted on: October 31, 2011

This song is one of those songs that had a tremendous influence on me as a young teenager kid. I had no idea what movie this song was from, but I would have dearly loved to watch this movie.

Much later, I watched this movie, but that was some six-seven years later and watching a movie during one’s late teens (duly bunking college and rightfully feeling guiltyabout it ) is not the same as watching it in one’s pre teens.

The reason I liked this song was Kishore Kumar’s voice and the music. I always associated this kind of music with R D Burman. It was later that I realised that the music of this movie was composed not by R D Burman, but by the senior Burman. Incidentally, much of the 19670s music of S D Burman apperaed to me to be R D Burman’s. There could be some truth in it, or may be I just imagined it, but the fact remains that S D Burman was one of the very few oldtimer music directors who were not blown away by the typhoon of R D Burman’s 1970 style music. S D Burman in fact continued to go from strength to strengh in 1970s, till he died on 31st october 1975.

Here is this fantastic song with equally fantastic picturisation. Wooing one’s lady love on foot or even on horse/car etc is passe, here Dharmendra wooes Hema Malini while flying an helicopter , and chasing Hema Malini’s helicopter. Yes, this is a stuff of fantasy indeed.

This song is written by Anand Bakshi. the movie is “Jugnu” (1973). Wheen I listened to this song again and watched the picturisation, it gave me goosebumps like it would have given me had I been fortunate enough to watch this song as a pre teen. It is a truly magical stuff, and one has to admire the genius of S d Burman that he should be able to create songs like this than can entrall the listeners and viewers even several decades later. This is a timeless song indeed that has brought great pleasure to the young (as well as young of heat) who lived through that era.

Song-Pyaar ke iss khel mein do dilon ke mel mein (Jugnu) (1973) Singer-Kishore Kumar, Lyrics-Anand Bakshi, MD-S D Burman

Lyrics

he he he he he he he
ho ho ho ho ho ho
hehe he he
arre
ye bhi to hai

pyaar ke iss khel mein,
do dilon ke mel mein
pyaar ke iss khel mein,
do dilon ke mel mein
teraa peechhaa naa
main chhodoongaa soniye
peechhaa naa
main chhodoongaa soniye
bhej de chaahe jail mein
pyaar ke iss khel mein
do dilon ke mel mein
shut up
do dilon ke mel mein
idiot

dartaa main nahin,
chaahe ho zameen,
chaahe aasmaan
jahaan bhi tu jaayegi
main wahaan chalaa aaungaa
dartaa main nahin,
chaahe ho zameen,
chaahe aasmaan
jahaan bhi tu jaayegi
main wahaan chalaa aaun
teraa peechhaa na
naa chhodoonga soniye
peechhaa na main chhodoonga soniye
bhej de chaahe jail mein
pyaar ke is khel mein
do dilon ke mel mein

he he he he
tararuru
o jaan-e-jigar,
din mein tu agar,
mujhse na mili
sapnon mein aake saari raat jagaau
teraa peechhaa na
naa chhodoonga soniye
peechhaa na main chhodoonga soniye
bhej de chaahe jail mein
pyaar ke is khel mein
do dilon ke mel mein

dil pe haath se,
likh le baat ye,
waadaa ye rahaa
tere ghar leke main baaraat kabhi aaungaa
dil pe haath se,
likh le baat ye,
waadaa ye rahaa
tere ghar leke main baaraat kabhi aaun
teraa peechhaa na
naa chhodoonga soniye
peechhaa na main chhodoonga soniye
bhej de chaahe jail mein
haan
pyaar ke is khel mein
lalalalallalala

this was one new idea of wooing the heroine.

I love the way the sound is supposed to have traveled through the air, from one machine to the other, overcoming the noise of the helicopter, which is the most silent one I have ever seen! Oh, I forget, I am not supposed to notice such discrepancies – the viewer is supposed to concentrate on the music – but I couldn’t help myself. I think I have become so cynical these days that these discrepancies just jump up at me!
It is a very nice song, just right for the pre-teen and the romantic teenagers, and maybe even old cynics like me! After all, who wouldn’t want to be chased and wooed like this?

just a small info for us cynics. Hema and Dharam are shown wearing Head Phones. so that answers ur query abt how sound travels. coz we actually see a question mark on Prem Chopra’s face. see that?

Please add iconic song asmaan se aya farishta, in helicopter category.
