Pooja ke do phool chadhaa kar kehta hai insaan

Posted on: November 21, 2011

1950s was the decade when it was the cherished dream of Indians to see their nation progress. And Hindi movies were not immune from this zeal for nation building. Many movies of that era had nation building as the underlying theme of the movie.

“Ham Panchhi Ek Daal ke” (1957) was certainly one such movie which talked of national unity, cultural harmony, development etc. The songs of this movie also reflect the same sentiment.

Here is a lovely song from this movie. IThis song is apparently a fund raising attempt by school kids where they present this song as part of their cultural programme.

The philosophy expressed in this song is something I totally agree with. One should not expect results by doing something half heartedly or superficially. One should not expect to find God just because one has offered a few flowers to the God, or taken a dip into the holy river. One need to do much more to prove worthy of finding the God.

This song is sung by Asha Bhonsle and chorus and it is picturised on several kids. My guess is that the kid lip syncing in Asha Bhonsle’s voice is Master Romi. I request our knowledgeable readers to cofirm/ refute my identification.

P L Santoshi is the lyricist. Music is composed by N Datta.

Lyrics

Pooja ke do phool chadhaa kar
kehta hai insaan
ke mujhko mil jaaye Bhagwaan
o moorakh
o naadaan
itna nahin aasaan
ke tujhko mil jaaye Bhagwaan
pooja ke do phool chadhaa kar
kehta hai insaan
ke mujhko mil jaaye Bhagwaan
ke mujhko mil jaaye Bhagwaan

Bhagwan base bhaiyya kheton mein
Bhagwan base bhaiyya kheton mein
Bhagwaan base khalihaanon mein
Bhagwaan base khalihaanon mein
bhaiyya wo to base majdooron mein
bhaiyya wo to base kisaanon mein
Ganga jee mein maar ke dubki
kehta hai insaan
ke mujhko mil jaaye Bhagwaan
pooja ke do phool chadhaa kar
kehta hai insaan
ke mujhko mil jaaye Bhagwaan
ke mujhko mil jaaye Bhagwaan

Bhagwaan base bhaiyya baandhon mein
Bhagwaan base bhaiyya baandhon mein
Bhagwaan base bhaiyya khaanon mein
Bhagwaan base bhaiyya khaanon mein
bhaiyya wo to base udhyogon mein
bhaiyya wo to base kaarkhaanon mein
maathe chaudaa tilak lagaa kar
kehta hai insaan
ke mujhko mil jaaye Bhagwaan
pooja ke do phool chadhaa kar
kehta hai insaan
ke mujhko mil jaaye Bhagwaan
ke mujhko mil jaaye Bhagwaan

jo tu chaahe arre baawle
mil jaaye Bhagwaan
baawle
mil jaaye Bhagwaan

jo tu chaahe arre baawle
mil jaaye Bhagwaan
tu dhar le man mein itna dhyaan
jagaa le man mein itna gyaan
jagaa le man mein itna gyaan
kyaa ghareeb kyaa dhanwaan
sabhi hain jag mein ek samaan
sabhi ka dukh apna dukh jaan
jise kehte hain jag kalyaan
jise kehte hain jag kalyaan
ussi mein Prabhu ko tu pehchaan
ussi mein rehte hain Bhagwaan
ussi mein baste hain Bhagwaan
yahi hamaare teerath mandir
yahi hai chaaron dhaam
yahi hamaare Krishna Kanhaiyya
yahi hamaare Ram

Atulji,
Thanks again for posting another wonderful song. According to my knowledge, the child artist that you are talking about is Satish Vyas. We saw him in V. Shantaram’s Toofan Aur Diya as Nanda’s little brother. He was singing “Meri aan bhagwan……”. Just FYI, Satis Vyas is my Sister-In-Law’s nephew.

Nice to know that. I am sure you will be able to get some insider’s information about the Hindi movies of that era from him.
