on:There are several well known songs that I believe have already been covered in the blog but I often turn out to be wrong in my belief.
Take this song from “Halaaku”(1956) for example. This song “Abhi chale aao” is the most well known song from this movie. Seeing that I have discussed three songs from this movie, I was cetain that I had discussed thios song too in the blog. So I was extremely surprised when I found Prakashchandra sending me the lyrics of this song. I checked up and I found that this song was indeed missing from the blog.
Better late than never. Here is this delightful dance song from “Halaaku” (1956). The song is sung by Lata and Asha Bhonsle. It is picturised on Minu Mumtaz and Helen. Pran is also visible in the picturisation. I am not sure whether this song is written by Shailendra or Hasrat Jaipuri as I have seen both of them being credited as the lyrics of this song. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw more light on this matter.
Shankar Jaikishan composed the music of this timeless classic.

Lyrics(Provided by Prakashchandra)
aji chale aao
aji chale aao
tumhen aankhon ne dil mein bulaayaa
ab to samajh jaao
ab to samajh jaao
kyun nigaahon ne pardaa giraayaa
aji chale aao
dil mein uthhti hain kaisi umangen
tumse kaanon mein kahnaa padegaa
aaa
dil mein uthhti hain kaisi umangen
tumse kaanon mein kahnaa padegaa
shart sun lo
shart sun lo magar mere dilbar
aa ke dil mein hi rehnaa padegaa
zaraa muskuraao
zaraa muskuraao
meri nazron ne daaman bichhaayaa
aji chale aao
aji chale aao
tumhen aankhon ne dil mein bulaayaa
aji chale aao
rang mausam ke ham bhi to dekhen
ye lagi kyaa hai ham bhi to jaanen
ho ho ho
rang mausam ke ham bhi to dekhen
ye lagi kyaa hai ham bhi to jaanen
dil to yoon bhi
dil to yoon bhi dhadaktaa hai lekin
zindagi kyaa hai ham bhi to jaane
hamen bhi bataao
hamen bhi bataao
chaand kiske liye muskuraayaa
aji chale aao
aji chale aao
tumhen aankhon ne dil mein bulaayaa
aa aa
aji chale aao
raat ko hamse taaron ne poochhaa
paas reh ke bhi kyun door hain vo
ho o o
raat ko hamse taaron ne poochhaa
paas reh ke bhi kyun door hain vo
aag unki
aag unki lagaai huyi hai
ban rahe hain ki majboor hain vo
hamen naa banaao
hamen naa banaao
hamne tum ko to apnaa banaayaa
aji chale aao
aji chale aao
tumhen aankhon ne dil mein bulaayaa
aji chale aao

Atul ji,
HALAAKU-1956 was an All India Pict. film produced jointly by DDKashyap and P.N.Arora. He is the same Mr.Arora who deserted Helen after using her unscrupulously for over 25 years and Saleem khan married her and gave her a place in the society.
S-J gave one of their exceptional music performance in Halaku, which actually saved the film.
We have heard and read the love stories of Laila Majnu,Shirin Farhad,Romeo Juliet, heer Ranjha etc.All these confirm one thing-humans are mortal,Love is Immortal.
Halaaku is also a love story of Niloufer and Pervez. After saying No,Nilu’s father says Yes to their marriage, but luck comes hard on them .Halaaku Khan, the famed grandson of Changez Khan, comes attacking from Mangolia and there is chaos in Qaisar e Shireen. The soldiers kidnap Nilu and take her to Halaaku, who first tries fear and then love to win her,but she refuses.
Pervez gathers a small army to fight Halaaku, but is captured by him and sentenced to death. To save him Nilu has to marry Halaaku.
The story,as expected ends in the usual tragedy,to make the lovers stand with the likes of Laila Majnu and company.
The above song is written by Shailendra,as per HFGK.
