Maajhi naiyya dhoondhe kinaaraa

Posted on: December 22, 2011

“Uphaar” (1971) is a Rajshree Productions movie. This movie was directed by Sudhendu Roy. The actors in this movie were Kamini Kaushal, Nana Palsikar, Aarti, Jaya Bhadhuri, Swaroop Dutt, Nandita Takur, Suresh Chatwal, Leela Mishra, Ratna Mala, Lata Arora, Minu Mehtab, Yunus Parwaiz, Shail Chathurvedi etc.

As was usual for most Hindi movies in general and Rajshree Productions movies in particular, great music used to be the major attraction of these movies. This, plus nice heartwarming stories meant that people looking for family entertainment found Rajshree Productions movies safe bets.

Two songs from this movie have been discussed oin this blog in the past. Here is another song from the movie. This lovely song is sung by Mukesh. It is a boat song and it is picturised on Jaya Bhaduri, Swaroop Dutt and Yunus Parvez on a boat in a river. And like most boat songs, this song is a nice audio visual experience for music lovers.

Anand Bakshi is the lyricist. Music is composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Prakashchandra.

This song, incidentally is the 400th song of Anand Bakshi as a lyricist in this blog. With that, Anand Bakshi becomes the third lyricist, after Majrooh Sultanpuri and Rajinder Krishan, to reach 400 songs mark in this blog.

Prakashji,
Another Naiyya/Boat song. There are few naiyya songs including this one, I cherish more than others like
Maajhi chal maajhi chal
Door hai kinaara
Sun mere bandhu re
Nadiya chale chale re dhaara
Thanks Atulji for posting.

Sometime I feel like The Atul Wagon should go on a “cruise” ride and sing all these Naiyya song 🙂 . (Agar “naiyya” me Atulji ki poori team shamaane gaye to naiyya paani me aur humko naiyya ke gaane chhod kar Prarthana/bhajan gaane padenge like

“Hey Brahma Hey Vishnu, Hey Shankar sarwa shakti maan
raksha karo raksha karo hey dayaa nidhaan
meri patt rakho bhagawaan” 😆
