Atul’s Song A Day- A choice collection of Hindi Film & Non-Film Songs

Ham mein hai kyaa ke hamen koi haseenaa chaahe

Posted on: December 28, 2011

“Nawaab Sahib” (1978) is an obscure movie, despite being a movie of recent vintage by the standards of this movie. This movie was clearly a B grade movie and it had small time non selling actors in it.

Personally I was never much aware of the movie or its songs. I have become aware of a song from this movie just a little while ago, when I was sent the lyrics of this song. What an A grade song from this obscure movie. It is yet another confirmation of our oft repeated assertion that Hindi movies, whatever be their category, tended to have A grade music in them.

Here is this fantastic song from “Nawaab Sahib” (1978). It is sung by Rafi and it is picturised on Parikshit Sahni and Tamanna. Sahir Ludhianvi is the lyricist and music is composed by C Arjun.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Khyati Bhatt.

Song-Ham mein hai kyaa ke hamen koi haseenaa chaahe (Nawaab Sahib)(1978) Singer-Rafi, Lyrics-Sahir Ludhianvi, MD-C Arjun

Lyrics(Provided by Khyati Bhatt)

ham mein hai kyaa ke hamen
koi haseena chaahe
ham mein hai kyaa ke hamen
koi haseena chaahe
sirf jazbaat hai
jazbaat mein kyaa rakhha hai
ham mein hai kyaa ke hamen
koi haseena chaahe

kis ki taqdeer mein hai
unke mehekte gesoo
kis ke ghar phailega
us mast nazar kaa jaadoo
kis ki taqdeer mein hai
unke mehekte gesoo
kis ke ghar phailega
us mast nazar kaa jaadoo
in pareshaan sawaalat mein
kyaa rakhha hai
ham mein hai kyaa ke hamen
koi haseena chaahe

itna deewaana na ban
ae di-e-betaab sambhal
woh agar mil bhi liye tujhse
to itna na machal
itna deewaana na ban
ae di-e-betaab sambhal
woh agar mil bhi liye tujhse
to itna na machal
betaalluk si mulaaqaat mein
kya rakhha hai
hum mein hai kyaa ke hamen
koi haseena chaahe

muskuraahat ko muhabbat kaa ishaara na samajh
mil liye honge woh yoonhi
unhe apna na samajh
muskuraahat ko muhabbat kaa ishaara na samajh
mil liye honge woh yoonhi
unhe apna na samajh
aise naadaan khayaalat mein kya rakhha hai
ham mein hai kyaa ke humein
koi haseena chaahe
sirf jazbaat hai jazbaat mein
kyaa rakhha hai
ham mein hai kyaa ke hamen
koi haseena chaahe

Atul ji,
NAWAB SAHIB-1978,a S.R.Films presentation was produced by Satram Rohra and Directed by Rajindersingh Bedi, who also wrote this heartwarming story,s/play and dialogues.
The wife of Nawab Mohsin Ali-a deeply religious man, leaves his house, once it is confirmed that she can not bear him children.Very sad,Nawabsab adopts his servant’s son shaukat and daughter maimoona as his children .After the abolition of privy purses and loss of Imamhood,Nawab saab’s financial condition becomes very delicate. When even his properety is at stake,a Hindu friend helps him save it.
To grab his property, his nephew Imraan tries every trick, but to no avail.Ultimately,he also realises the greatness of his uncle. He himself finds Nawabsahib’s lost wife and reunites them as also brings their adopted children.
The film had a very emotional and powerful story, but except Farida Jalal, almost all other majoir actors (Bharat Bhooshan,Rehana Sultan, parikshit Sahani,Tamanna, veena) etc failed the director flat and a wonderfully potential hit went into the cans with great haste !

Another beautiful song is there in this movie sung by usha mangeshkar:
“ab se pehle tho ye dil ki haalath na thi, aaj kya ho gayaa, aaj kya ho gayaa”

The lyrics are with you Atulji, It has been sent on july 13,2011,
I am sending the lyrics of that song again for your convenience,Please post it at your convenience.

@Khyati ji – thanks for this beautfiul post. I have seen this movie but not remember it now except this song. Rafi saab’s great singing has made it very special and Sahir saab’s poetry, always from the heart, “muskuraahat ko muhabbat kaa ishaara na samajh
mil liye honge woh yoonhi
unhe apna na samajh
aise naadaan khayaalat mein kya rakhha hai”
thanks once again !!!

@ Shri.Deshmukh Sir- thanks for the details.

Avinashji,
I remember this song as an “advertisement song” on radio vividhbharati and like you have said, Rafi’s voice and Sahir sahab ki likhayi. I was surprised back then when I found out that MD is C Arjun, as I knew him only by Jai Santoshi Maa-75.
