I was aware of the film Suhagan (1964) but never knew that one more film by the same name was released in 1954. In fact, I found that most of the websites including IMD jumbled the details of both these films in Suhagan (1954). As per Indian Film Trade website, the film was produced by Datta Dharmadhikari, a Marathi film veteran who has been known for producing and directing family drama films. Anant Mane, also a veteran Marathi film director, directed the film. The star cast included Geeta Bali and Jaswant in the lead role and Shyam Kumar, Sulochana, Vijaylaxmi, Janakidas in subsidiary roles.

When this blog was started more than three years ago, it used to be one song a day blog, and the song used to be of my own choice. With time, I started receiving farmaishes and I would try to comply with them. Soon I was inundated with so many farmaishes that I was left with a pending list running into many hundreds of songs, if not more.

Star cast of the movie included names like Dev Anand, Kalpana Kartik, K.N.Singh, Kumkum, Bhagwan Sinha, Sheela Vaz, Prabhu Dayal, Jambura, Anand Pal, Parashuram, Sarita, Shivraj, Rashid Khan, Kammo, Kumkum etc.

We have seen many “tanga” (chariot category for this blog) songs in Hindi Cinema with different situations. In some situations, the hero is chasing his loved one to convince her by praising her beauty. In few cases, heroine is riding a bike with her friends going for a picnic.

In Hindi film industry, there were producers/directors who initially started their careers as lyricists but over a period of time, they ventured into film production. As far as I know, this trend started with Kidar Sharma who joined New Theatres as a still photographer and a set painter before switching over to lyricist and dialogue writer. He was followed by P L Santoshi, Nakhshab, Jaan Nisar Akhtar, Shailendra, Gulzar to give a few examples.

Greetings to all on the 5501st post for this blog. You may wonder, what is special that I am highlighting the 5501st post. Yes something special in this one. Readers may have noticed that over the past few days, Atul ji and I have been posting songs by N Dutta at a very fast pace. The reason of course was we planned to coincide the century post for N Dutta with the 5500th song on this blog. All was in order till Tuesday morning when browsing through the tags and stats, something occurred to me.
