Wo ghar ghar ke diye bujhaakar baney huye dhanwaan

I have discussed songs from “Ham Bhi Insaan Hain”(1959) in this blog. It turns out that there was another movie of the same title which was produced in 1948. This movie was produced by Ghanshamdas and directed by Phani Majumdar. This movie had Dev Anand, Ramola, Anand Pal, Ganshamdas, Jerman, Vinodini etc in it.
Here is a song from “Ham Bhi Insaan Hain”(1948). This song is sung by Manna Dey and an unknown female voice. Curiously, this song is described as a Manna Dey solo in most sites that I have looked at even though one can clearly hear the female voice singing alongwith Manna Dey as well as solo. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw more light on the identity of the female singer as well as on the identity of the actors on whom this song is picturised.
Gopal Singh Nepali is the lyricist. H P Das, who made his debut as a music director in this blog a few days back , is the music director.
Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Khyati Bhatt.

Lyrics(Provided by Khyati Bhatt)
wo ghar ghar ke diye bujhaakar
bane huye dhanwaan
wo ghar ghar ke diye bujhakar
bane huye dhanwan
tum hi nahi ho is duniya mein
hum bhi to insaan
hum bhi hai insaan
wo ghar ghar ke diye bujhaakar
bane huye dhanwan
tum hi nahi ho is duniya mein
hum bhi to insaan
hum bhi hain insaan
yahaan tumhaara rang mahal hai
rang mahal mein chahal pahal hai
yahan tumhaara rang mahal hai
rang mahal mein chahal pahal hai
aur hamaare liye nahin kya
yeh zameen aasman
aur hamaare liye nahin kya
yeh zameen aasmaan
tum hi nahin ho is duniya mein
hum bhi to insaan
hum bhi hain insaan
khet hamaara fasal tumhaari
aisa kyun hoga
khet hamara fasal tumhari
aisa kyun hoga
jis ne mehnat ki na uska
paisa kyun hoga
jis ne mehnat ki na uska
paisa kyun hoga
dil hai tumhara aur na hoti
kya gareeb ki jaan
dil hai tumhara aur na hoti
kya gareeb ki jaan
tum hi nahi ho is duniya mein
hum bhi to insaan
hum bhi hain insaan
hum ko bhi to bhookh sataati hai
hum ko bhi to pyaas jalaati hai
hum ko bhi to bhookh satati hai
hum ko bhi to pyaas jalati hai
aaj doodhh ke liye hamaari
roti hai santaan
aaj doodh ke liye hamaari
roti hai santaan
tum hi nahi ho is duniya mein
hum bhi to insaan
hum bhi hain insaan
o ghar ghar ke diye bujhaakar
bane huye dhanwaan
tum hi nahi ho is duniya mein
hum bhi to insaan
hum bhi hain insaan

—“Wo” doesnt make sense here. I believe it should be “O”.

Khyati ji,
Thanks for bringing this song up for posting – a lovely easy paced melody, good to listen.
Bluefire ji is correct, in that the word ‘Wo’ in the mukhda should be ‘O’.
On screen, the main performers are Dev Anand and Ramola. Dev Saab was just into the third year of his career, and had not yet cloaked himself with the dashing and suave glamorous persona that was to hit the screens and the hearts, with the film ‘Baazi’ in 1951. Some of his earliest films show a rural Dev Anand, sometimes wearing a dhoti, or a pajama – a presence that would never appear on the screen again after 1951. Like his films ‘Hum Ek Hain’ (1946), ‘Aage Badho’ (1947) and ‘Vidya’ (1948) etc., ‘Hum Bhi Insaan Hain’ is a film about social issues, of parity in society. The third actor, the older and somewhat bald person with thick moustache, seems very familiar, but I am not able to place a name to this actor. It looks as if he could be Kanhaiya Lal, but the name does not appear in the list of actors in the Geet Kosh.
On the name behind the female voice in this song, I am making a speculative deduction. As one scans the list of songs and the singers for this film in the Geet Kosh, there are only three names that appear in the list. Manna Dey, Das Gupta as male voices, and Pervez Kapadia as the female voice. Although the listing in the Geet Kosh identifies ‘Manna Dey, saathi’ as singers for this song, I would like to propose that the female singing voice is Pervez Kapadia.
Request help from other readers in making correct identifications.

Sudhir ji,
Your guess is absolutely right.
The ‘Unknown female singer’ IS Miss Parvez Kapadiya indeed.
