on:“Mirza Ghalib” (1954) was based on the life of Mirza Ghalib. This movie was a Minerva Movietone production and it was directed by Sohrab Modi. the movie had Bharat Bhushan, Suraiyya, Murad, Durga Khote, Jagdish Sethi, Nigar Sultana, Mukri, Baij Sharma, Kumkum, Sadat Ali, Iftekhar, Roshan etc in it.
The movie had eleven songs it it. Ten songs from this movie have already been discussed in the past. Here is the eleventh and final song from this movie. This song is sung by Sudha Malhotra. It is one of the two songs from this movie that are written by Shakeel Badayuni, with the remaining songs credited to Mirza Ghalib.
Picturisation shows this song seemlessly transform into another song from the movie, viz Aah ko chaahiye ik umr asar hone tak which has already been discussed in the past.
Music of this song is composed by Ghulam Mohammad.
Lyrics of this song were sent to me by nahm.
PS-I request our knowledgeable readers to help identify the dancer who lip sync this song before Suraiyya takes over.

Ganga ki reti pe

Ganga ki reti pe
bangla chhawaai de
sainyya teri
sainyya teri khair ho jee
balma teri khair ho
sainyya teri khair ho jee
balma teri khair ho
khidki ki oar koyi
ee ee ee
khidki ki oar koyi
bagiya lagaayi de
phoolon ki sair ho jee
balma teri khair ho
phoolon ki sair ho jee
balma teri khair ho
o o o o o
o o o
nainon se nain miley
baaten hon pyaar ki
hoy baaten ho pyaar ki
paayalm ke saath baje
bansi bahaar ki
paayal ke saath baje
bansi bahaar ki
ek tu ho
ek main hoon
oon oon
ek tu ho ek main hoon
koyi na gair ho
sainnyya teri
sainyya teri khair ho jee
balma teri khair ho
sainyya teri khair ho jee
balma teri khair ho

I like Rajstani folk song by Mehdi Hassn…Kesariya balam…
Very sad day 13.
Mehdi Hassan’s demise great loss to music industry.
May the Good Lord grant his soul peace and grant solace to members of his family.

Arunji, do u know what happened to Kumkum after that? It seemed she was very close to Ramanand Sagar, who kept giving her prominent roles later on in Aankhen, Lalkar, Jalta Badan, etc.
