Subah hoti hai shaam hoti hai

Posted on: June 13, 2012

“Aplam Chaplam” (1961) was a Mukti Pictures Presentation. It was directed by Roop K Shorey. The starcast of this small budget movie had names like Manju, Tiwari, I. S. Johar, W. M. Khan, Kumkum, Jeevan, Tabassum, Tuntun, Badri Prasad etc in it.

Here is a song from this movie. This song is sung by Lata. Only the audio of this song is available and so it is difficult to say how and on whom this song is picturised, though Kumkum appears to be the most likely candidate on whom this song may have been picturised.

Chitragupta is the music director of this song. Prem Dhawan is the lyricist of this song. Today (13 june) happens to be the birth anniversary of Prem Dhawan.

Prem Dhawan, who is the lyricist of some of the most iconic patriotic songs of all times , was born on this day in 1923. He made his debut as a lyricist in “Ziddi” (1948), which also happened to be the debut movie of Kishore Kumar as a playback singer. Prem Dhawan, who is mainly known as a lyricist also created some wonderful music as a music director in movies like “Shaheed” (1965) and “Pavitra Paapi” (1970). In addition, he was also a choreographer in a few movies. In fact, he even performed a dance in a song in “Singaar” (1949).

On the occasion of the 89 th birth anniversary of Prem Dhawan (DOB 13 june 1923- DoD 7 may 2001),here is this nice song from “Aplam Chaplam”(1961).

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Prakashchandra.

Song-Subah hoti hai shaam hoti hai (Aplam Chaplam)(1961) Singer-Lata, Lyrics-Prem Dhawan, MD-Chitragupta

Lyrics(Provided by Prakashchandra)

subah hoti hai
shaam hoti hai
zindagi yoon hi
tamaam hoti hai
subah hoti hai
shaam hoti hai
zindagi yoon hi
tamaam hoti hai

haaye woh bachpan ki rangeen yaadgaar
yaad aate hain woh din bhi baar baar
khelnaa phoolon mein titli ki tarhaa
daudhana barkhaa mein bijli ki tarhaa
roz woh gudiyon ki shaadi dhoom se
naachnaa gaanaa galiyon mein jhoom ke
sang sakhiyon ke woh jhoole preet ke
taal dena mil ke dil ke geet pe
bas yehi thhi chhoti si duniyaa meri
jaanti thi issko hi main zindagi
subah hoti hai shaam hoti hai
zindagi yoon hi tamaam hoti hai

ek din utta aisaa toofaan saa
dil mein jaagaa anjaana armaan saa
chhod ke mujhko meraa bachpan gayaa
khelti thhi jiss mein woh aangan gayaa
dil mein koi apnaa banke aa gaayaa
ek nashaa saa zindagi pe chhaa gayaa
chaand taaron se baatein hone lagi
door khwaabon mein nazrein khone lagi
pyaar mein dil meraa yoon madhosh thhaa
hosh thhaa mujhko to itnaa hosh thaa
subah hoti hai shaam hoti hai
zindagi yoon hi tamaam hoti hai

Atul ji,
APLAM CHAPLAM-1961 was yet another attempt by Roop K Shorey to relive the magic of Ek thi Ladki-1949.Throughout his life he was obsessed with this one theme only.Additionally he invariably take I.S.Johar and Majnu, whom he considered as his mascots. Johar considered this pair as “Bob Hope and Bing Crosby ” of India.
In this film again the story was written by Johar on the same lines with minor changes.
Aplam(Johar) and Chaplam(Majnu) are small time croocks. One day they bring a beautiful girl Lajwanti(Kum kum) from an orphanage with a promise to make her a big film star. They set up a Theatre and arrange Lajo’s dances. They make lot of money.
Ramesh(Ravinder Kapoor),a young man from a town, comes to the city to invest some money. This jodi catch him and invest(swallow) his money in the theatre.Lajo and Ramesh fall in love.
Actually Lajo is an orphan with her aunt in a village, who sends her to orphanage to save her from her own husband Biharilal(Tiwari). When B.lal learns from the aunt ehre Lajo is,he comes to city to get her,as she is an heiress to a great fortune. He contacts Aplam chaplam to get to lajo.meanwhile Ramesh and Lajo are separated due to a misunderstanding.
When the croocks realise that Biharilal wants to kill Lajo, they decide to save her and in the process also repent and reform.
In the end Lajo is saved,Biharilal goes to jail and Lajo and Ramesh get reunited and Aplam-Chaplam become Lajo’s Estate Managers.

Film Apalam Chapalam had another beautiful song….’chad he Chanda to tumhi chale aana ‘by Lata and Rafi.
