Atul’s Song A Day- A choice collection of Hindi Film & Non-Film Songs

Ik ritu aaye ik ritu jaaye

Posted on: August 19, 2012

“Gautam Govinda” (1979) was a Subhash Ghai movie. If one is not aware of this fact, one may mistake this movie for a Manmohan Desai movie dealing with separated at childhood brothers. The only thing different from a Manmohan Desai movie and this movie is that instead of Amitabh Bachchan, this movie has Shatrughan Sinha playing the law breaking brother. Shashi Kapoor is there in the movie, as usual playing a police inspector.

The movie was aimed at low brow movie audience and I did not regard myself as low brow so I never watched this movie. 🙂

The most well known song from this movie was “Ik ritu aaye ik ritu jaaye”. Here is that song. This song is sung by Kishore Kumar. The picturisation shown Vijay Arora singing this song while carrying Shashi Kapoor on his bicyle to a remote village where Shashi Kapoor has been sent by the commissioner of police to control lawlessness in that place.

Anand Bakshi is the lyricist. Music is composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Khyati Bhatt.

aankhen taras gayin
een een een
baadal to na barse
aankhen baras gayin
tak tak sookhe parbat
aankhen taras gayin
een een een
baadal to na barse
aankhen baras gayin
baras baras dukh badhta jaaye
ik ritu aaye
ik ritu jaaye
mausam badley
na badle naseeb

sab logon ne ladna marna seekh liya
in ko jeena kaun sikhaaye
ik ritu aaye

hi Khyatiji
thanks for beating me to the post with this song. i was reserving this song for Kishore Kumar’s anniversaary which will come shortly.
anyways lovely meaningful song isn’t it?.
& thank you Atul the facilitator for all of us!!!

Peevesie’s Mom,
Remember the “experience” we both had for the song, Sapna mera toot gaya….. jab hamare Prakashji ne hum dono ka sapna tod diya tha? (sending that song on Ashaji’s b’day) With my past experience of same kind, where I was also beaten up by almost all “players” of Atulji’s team, I learned a lesson, Jab bhi mauka mile, uska faayda utha le. So, now on, I have decided not to wait for the right time/occasion. Pata nahin, kab aur kahaan se Prakashji ya koi aur bowler googli phenk de. 😆 Remember our elders used to say, “kaal kare so aaj kar……” Just incorporate that in your life, specially for sending the lyrics!!! You will see the result right away. Simple example- I was thinking of sending this song on Vijay Arora’s b’day (Dec 27) and then as mentioned earlier, with my past experience, I decided not to wait. Dekho, achha kiya na maine. Agar raah dekhti to aap meri “pitaayi” kar deti kyunki KK ka b’day VA se pehle aata hai. !!!!
Sorry to hurt your feelings. Wish I knew someone is waiting to send this song on KK’s b’day.

Lovely song!

Low-brow, or hi-brow, Atul, I watched this movie with glee!

This is probably the third movie from Subhash Ghai. The first two named after the famous batsmen of that era; Kalicharan and Vishwanath. We suspected that continuing in the sports tradition, the Govinda piece of the name was inspired by the great hockey player of the time. Maybe that is why this film did not do well; cricket sells better than hockey! 🙂

I never realised that this movie could have been named after a Hockey player. I thought that the movie did quite well among low brow movie goers. 🙂

Not got to see this movie till. But i like this song very much. Don’t know the story of this film and how this song comes into.
Waiting for the rains i could really feel these words ‘tak tak sookhe parbat aankhen taras gayin, baadal to na barse aankhen baras gayin’ . And on the other side thinking it ‘philosophically’ today when we have our ‘annual budget’, it just came to my mind that those who have seen our country getting freedom and have witnessed to the various budgets over these 67 years, what they think have changed for them? looking on the other aspects in social contexts what has changed so far and how much? ‘ik budget aaye,ik budget jaaye’ (for ‘budget ‘one can also read ‘sarkaar’) ‘samasyaaein’ badley na, na badley ‘rakeeb’ !
