A few days back, my wife lamented that our daughter takes her for granted and does not take her suggestions seriously(mujhe ghar ki murgi samajhti hai). What is new about it, I thought to myself, because my wife too takes me for granted. :). And in turn, both of us often underestimate our daughter. The three of us take our pets for granted and the pets return the favour by taking us for granted. 🙂
But seriously, we all realise that all of us are blessed with certain qualities and the others need to appreciate them.
The same principle applies for the blog too. The contributions made by the regulars of this blog in enriching it is inestimable. I have met just a few of the regulars of this blog and have some knowledge about the rest of the regulars, but I know for certain that I am extremely fortunate to have such a special group of like minded individuals. They are all united by our love for Hindi movie music and they all voluntarily and willingly contribute their mite in adding to the knowledgebase of Hindi movie music. All these people, in addition to being diehard lovers of music are also extremely fine human beings. Most of them are in their forties and above and that makes them senior well settled people in their profession lives. To be able to interact with them on a regular basis through this blog and at other similar blogs is a true privilege.
Make no mistake. Each and every contributor of this blog devotes quality time regularly in contributing for the cause of Hindi movie music. Their contributions are adding immensely to the cause of music. I realise and appreciate this fact daily when I go through songs whose lyrics, writeups, as well as other informations, details etc are contributed by our regulars. They are all worth their weight in gold.
These regulars are well known music authorities and they are all authorities in one or more fields related to Hindi movie music. Some are helping translate lyrics and dialogues for the benefit of non Hindi speakers. Some organise music related programmes in their areas. Some unearth difficult to find songs , difficult to find information etc and share them with others.
Sudhir Kapoor, our beloved Sudhir jee is a tireless enthusiast in the field of Hindi movie music. Just name a field of activity related to Hindi movie music and you will find him actively involved in that. He contributes lyrics, write ups, translations to this blog. He locates rare supposedly extinct songs and shares them with music fratenity. In addition, he has befriended legends in the field of Hindi movie music history viz Harmandir Singh Hamraz, Nalin Shah,Surjit Singh etc. He keeps in contact with lots and lots of music enthusiasts as well as with relatives of musical legends. He also organises music related functions. A few months ago, he had organised a function in New Delhi on the occasion of 100 years of Hindi movies, where a four hour long lecdem by Nalin Shah was presented.
Sudhir jee is recognised as an authority in Hindi movie music not only by us but by media too. Yesterday, he was invited by Doordarshan for a 25 minutes long programme on the occasion of Mukesh’s 36th death anniversary. The programme was telecasted at 5 PM on 27 august 2012. In this programme, Sudhir Jee and Shikha Vohra (Anil Biswas’s daughter) discussed Mukesh and his songs.
The same programme will be telecast again today (28 august 2012) at 6 PM on Doordarshan’s bharti channel. Readers of this blog are requested to watch this programme if they can. Finding one among us on national TV is such a pleasure. It helps us bask in reflected glory. 🙂
Sudhir jee is trying to get the recording of this programme from DD. I request our technologically savvy readers to try and record this programme when it is telecast and share with us.
PS-Now that recording is available. Here is the video of that programme.
Finding Sudhir jee on national TV is a proud moment for us in this blog. To share our happiness, here is a wonderful song from “Dharam Karam” (1975).
“Dharam Karam”(1975) was an R K Films production. It was produced and directed by Raj Kapoor. The movie had Raj Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor, Rekha, Premnath, Dara Singh, Pinchoo Kapoor, Narendranath, Urmila Bhatt, Alka, Master Satyajeet, Aarti, Baby Pinky, Rajan Kapoor, Subhash, Jagdish Raj, Fazal Khan, Prakash, Raj rani, Mansaram, Vishwa Mehra, Anand Kaushal, Hercules, Ranvir Raj, Viju Khote, Mushtaq Merchant, Mohan Bali, Ashoo, Sonia Sahni,Abhimanyu Sharma, Ravi, Sandesh Kohli etc in it.
Raj Kapoor employed the music of Shankar Jaikishan in all his movies till “Mera Naam Joker”(1970). After the failure of that movie, Raj Kapoor dismantled that music team and went for a brand new musical team with Laxmikant Pyarelal as the music director in “Bobby” (1973). In his subsequent movie, which was “Dharam Karam”(1975), R D Burman was signed up as the music director, much to the glee of new generation music lovers like me.
The music of this movie was wonderful. Two songs from this movie have already been discussed in the past. Here is this third song from the movie.
This song is sung by Mukesh, Kishore Kumar, Asha Bhonsle and chorus. The song, which is a stage song, is picturised on Raj Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor, Rekha , Premnath etc.
Majrooh Sultanpuri is the lyricist.
This song is an extremely long song running over 10 minutes long. Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Prakashchandra.

Atulji,
Would you please post or give us link if you happen to find our Sudhirji program. I do not have door darshan in Chicago. Thanks.
.
I didn’t know about this film but I have heard this song. I thought that he is trying to teach music to a young girl. But I like his stage theme better here..
Very nice sweet melancholy theme of this delightful mockumentary.
One can see RK love and fascination with clown, even Mera naam…didn’t do well but he really loved the “clown”.
May be as a symbol of a more innocent era that’s now sadly vanished in a world.
the ultimate message of the stage theme; don’t think so much, just sing a
and dance.

Its Junior RK movie, hence R D Burman, just like Biwi O Biwi from RK Productions.
RK would never settle for the efforts put in movies like, Kal Aaj Aur Kal or this one, Dharam Karam.
