Mere man mandir mein tum bhagwaan rahe

Today (19 september 2012) is Ganesh Chaturthi, a major Indian festival. Today Lord Ganesh’s birthday is celebrated. In Indian calender, Lord Ganesh’s festival comes first and the festivals involving other Gods come then follow during the year. In fact, “Sriganesh karna” has become a Hindi language idiom which means “to begin”.
Ganesh Festival is one of the few festivals where many households instal idol of Lord Ganesh at home, in addition to bigger idols installed in public places. After the end of the festival, all these Ganesh idols are immersed in a body of water, be it a sea (in coastal regions), or in rivers, or ponds.
The importance of this festival can be gauged from the fact that a Ganesh Festival song, viz. Deva ho deva Ganpati deva tumse badhkar kaun, posted in the blog las year has been the most searched song for the last couple of weeks.
On this occasion, here is a Ganesh Festival song from “Dard Ka Rishta”(1982). The song is sung by Hariharan and chorus. The song is picturised on a crowd of people out in the street in order to immerse Ganesh idols. Sunil Dutt, whose daughter (played by Baby Khushboo) is in hospital in serios condition, is also in the crowd, in order to immerse his small idol of Lord Ganesh.
The song is written by Anand Bakshi. Music is composed by R D Burman.
Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Prakashchandra.

The choice of the song , for the occasion of Gamnesh Chaturthi, is excellent. The selection of songs for your other blogs is too good. I am fond of old Hindi songs and found many of them appearing in your posts. Congrats.
