Aadhi sachchi aadhi jhoothhi teri prem kahaani

on:I was not aware of the fact that “Fakeera” (1976) was made by the same team that made “Chor Machaaye Chor” (1974). I always regarded “Chor Machaaye Shor” (1974) as an A grade movie and “Fakeera” (1976) as a B grade one. The fact that Mumtaz was the leading lady in “CMS” and a Shababa Azmi, then known only for her arts movie roles had much to do with my opinions about the two movies.
The movie was produced by N N Sippy and directed by C P Dixit. The movie had Shashi Kapoor, Shabana Azmi, Asrani, Aruna Irani, Danny Denzongpa, Asit Sen, Ramesh Deo, Madan Puri,Shetty etc in it. This movie had its producer as well as actors like Shashi Kapoor, Asrani, Danny Denzongpa, Madan Puri common with CMS.
Music director Ravindra Jain was also common in both the movies.
Two songs from “Fakeera” (1976) has been discussed in the past. Here is the third song from this movie. This song is a duet siung by Lata and Rafi. It is picturised as a typical running around trees garden song picturised on Shabana Azmi and Shashi Kapoor. One can see that Shabana Azmi is quite ill at ease in the picturisation, having to wear bellbottoms and stuff that was in fashion those days.
Inderjit Singh Tulsi is the lyricist and music is composed by Ravindra Jain.

aadhi sachchi aadhi jhoothi
teri prem kahaani
ho o ho o ho o
aadhi sachchi aadhi jhooti
teri prem kahaani
yaa to puraa sachcha ho jaa
yaa phir kar le beimaani
sajan farebiyaa
farebi saajnaa
o sajan farebiyaa
farebi saajna
poori solaah aane sachchi
meri prem kahaani
sun
sun
sun
poori solaah aane sachchi
meri prem kahaani
iss mein doodh hi doodh
nahin zaraa sa bhi paani
o chanchal goriye
ganne di boriye
o chanchal goriye
ganne di poriye
nain milaata kyun nahin re
paas bithhaata kyun nahin re
oh ho ho ho
oh ho ho ohho
nain milaata kyun nahin re
paas bithhaata kyun nahin re
ho main tere baag ki bulbul
tujh ko chhed chhed udd jaaun
jaal bichhaata kyun nahin re
rakh le pinjre mein band karke
hmm hmm hmm hmm
rakh le pinjre mein band karke
meri udti jawaani
sajan farebiyaa
farebi saajnaa
o sajan farebiyaa
farebi saajna
poori solah aane sachchi
meri prem kahaani
iss mein doodh hi doodh
nahin zaraa sa bhi paani
chanchal goriye
ganne di poriye
o chanchal goriye
ganne di poriye
aao baithho paas zaraa
baaten kar lein khaas zaraa
oh ho o o o
ho o o o
aao baithho paas zaraa
baaten kar lein khaas zaraa
arrey umr padi hai peene ko
main boond boond pee loonga
badhne do abhi pyaas zaraa
kaise ek saans mein jee loon
bol bol bol
kaise ek saans mein jee loon
itni badi zindagaani
chanchal goriye
ganne di poriye
o sajan farebiyaa
farebi saajna

I saw Fakira just to see how SA would look and act in a commercial movie. I was not totally disappointed. Same was the case of Smita Patil. I saw her Namak Halaal to see her “ability” as a commercial artist. She proved herself as a true artist in these glamorous roles.
BTW, there is one more famous song in Fakira, “tota maina ki kahaani to puraani….. by KK and LM.

Yahin to sachhe kalaakar ki pehchaan hai. They are fit in any film, as they know how to keep their role alive. I loved her “Shakti” also. Both movies with AB. We miss these kind of actors.

She cried after the filming of rain song “Aaj Rapat Jaaye To” in Namak Halaal, cause she thought it was vulgar and not suitable for an actress of her repute. Amitabh had to calm her down.
