on:“Professor Pyarelal” (1981) was a Topaz ?blaze presentation. It was produced by T M Bihari and directed by Brij Sadanah. The movie had Dharmendra,Zeenat Aman,Vinod Mehra,Nirupa Roy, Dr.Shree Ram Lagoo, Jeevan, Habib, Sudhir, Hercules,Bhagwan Dada, Jeevan, Satyen Kapoor, Mac Mohan, Baldev Khosa, Yusuf Khan, Shammi Kapoor, Nadira, Simmi Garewal, Amjad Khan, Sajjan, Hari Shivdasani, Sunder, K.N.Singh ,Gurbachan Singh, Kuldip Pawar, Jagdish Raj, Narendra Nath, Hercules, Brahmachari etc in it.
I did not care much about this movie when this movie was released because I thought that this movie was not quite upto the mark. Moreover, this movie was released at a time when the Golden era of Hindi movies was coming to a close and I was entering the period when I would gradually andirrreversibly lose tough with Hindi movies and their music.
Today (19 november) is the birthday of Zeenat Aman. On this occasion, here is a song from “Professor Pyarelal” (1981). I had never heard this song before and I was pleasantly surprised to find that this song, despite being a song of 1980s was such a hummable song.
This song is sung by Asha Bhonsle. Rajinder Krishan is the lyricist. Music is composed by Kalyanji Anandji, which comes as another surprise, because I normally associated such catchy tune with R D Burman. By now I have realised that may such tunes were composed by Kalyanji Anandji.
The song is picturised on locations abroad (in London) and the picturisation shows Zeenat Aman being followed throughout London by baddies like Jeevan,Hercules,,Habib,Sudhir, etc while Dharmendra too is searching for her so that he may be able to rescue the damsel in distress, which he duly does after Zeenat Aman is done with her lip syncing. 🙂

Lyrics(Provided by Prakashchandra)
hey ae
aaagey aagey
arrey
aagey aagey ek haseenaa
peechhe kuchch deewaane
deewaane anjaane
ke sab hain deewaane
arre shamma abhi tak
hey shamma abhi tak jali nahin hai
aa pahunche parwaane
ye kaisse parwaane
ke sab hain deewaane
ae ae hey ae ae
aagey aagey ek haseenaa
peechhe kuchch deewaane
deewaane anjaane
ke sab hain deewaane
hotey ho yaar
kyon beqaraar
aane hi waali hai dekho bahaar
hotey ho yaar
kyon beqaraar
aane hi waali hai dekho bahaar
maikhaane bhi apne
paimaane bhi apne
masti bhare hain zamaane
ae ae hey ae
aagey aagey ek haseenaa
peechhe kuchch deewaane
deewaane anjaane
ke sab hain deewaane
mere huzoor
jaanaa naa door
hone lagaa hai mujhe pyaar kaa suroor
mere huzoor
jaanaa naa door
hone lagaa hai mujhe pyaar kaa suroor
kissi se na kehnaa
jee chupp chupp rehnaa
ke dil par lagi kyon nishaane
ae ae hey ae
aagey aagey ek haseenaa
peechhe kuchch deewaane
deewaane anjaane
ke sab hain deewaane
aisaa jawaan rangeen samaa
ghadi do ghadi kaa hai mehmaan
aisaa jawaan rangeen samaa
ghadi do ghadi kaa hai mehmaan
gham hai bichhadne kaa
khel hai bigadne kaa
badlenge ab toh thikaane
ae ae hey ae
aagey aagey ek haseenaa
peechhe kuchch deewaane
deewaane anjaane
ke sab hain deewaane

Zeenat was such a smart, attractive, modern looking girl. She was at the top when I was in my teens, and I really loved to watch her in films, no matter if her acting wasn’t great shakes.
I actually went to see Boom, that superdud, because I had read that she had re-enacted Dum maro dum in it. 🙂
Happy birthday Zeenat.
