Song-Chali meri dulhan ki doli (Darpan)(1970) Singer-Rafi, Lyrics-Anand Bakshi, MD-Laxmikant Pyarelal
Lyrics(Provided by Khyati Bhatt)
chali meri dulhan ki doli
hoye
chali meri dulhan ki doli
saath hai jeewan saathi
kyaa karne hai baaraati
chali meri dulhan ki doli
hoye
chali meri dulhan ki doli
is mast pawan ke ye jhonke
ae ae ae
sang banke aaj kahaar chale
ae ae ae
baabul ke ghar se gori ko
leke saajan ke dwaar chale
sang ye badariya bhi holi
holi
chali meri dulhan ki doli
chali meri dulhan ki doli
duniya deewaani kehti thhi
ee ee ee
patjhad ke phool nahin khilte
ae ae ae
hat te nahin parbat raste se
dharti aakash nahin milte
duniya hai ye kitni bholi
bholi
chali meri dulhan ki doli
hoye
chali meri dulhan ki doli
phoolon ke nahin armaanon ke
ae ae ae
main haar tujhe pehnaaoonga
aa aa aa
kaliyon se nahi aashaaon se
ae ae ae
main teri shej sajaaoonga
mere humraahi humjoli
humjoli
chali meri dulhan ki doli
saath hai jeewansaathi
kya karne hai baaraati
chali meri dulhan ki doli
oye
chali meri dulhan ki doli
doli
chali meri dulhan ki doli

Khyatiji
every now & then we come across songs for which Atulji will say “Pehli Baar suna hai yeh gaana”. or else he will say “movie ka naam aaj pehli baar suna hain” and now he has a companion in Pradeepji. but now after all these remarks on Atul & his companion let me tell you even though i was aware of this movie & its famous lata number that you mentioned i couldn’t recollect this song from its title. and mind it i had sat through this movie a few years back when it came on TV. oh god what a warped story about a orphan girl being in love & getting raped by her lover’s brother (or some such thing) and she comes to know it was the brother only after she married her lover. quite a “gadbady ” story i say.

I never got a chance to see this movie. Thanks for the input. I would rather use my three hours in writing lyrics and send it to Atulji. As I have said, I had seen this song on Doordarshan. Lataji ka gaana sirf radio pe suna thha. Thanks again, Peevesie’s Mom ji for the short story.

Pradeepji,
Aap ki himmat ki daad deni padegi. Did you realize that you are taking a big risk here by saying “never heard this song b4”. A comment on a song by Rafi 😯 Pray God that our beloved Raja ji doesn’t read your comment about Rafi’s this song. 😆
I remember watching this song few times on Chhayageet. It was a popular song, if not famous. There is another sad song by Lata ji in this movie “Ek gagan ka raja ek chaman ki rani dono ke pyaar ki sunaaoon main kahaani”. Whenever Atulji posts this song on the blog, as a good wisher, I will suggest you not to write “never heard this song b4” as a comment, otherwise, Gaane mein naam Raja ka hai, lekin Shekhar Guptaji naraaz ho jaayenge (BTW, he is a huge fan of Lataji) 🙂
Just kidding.

I too had not heard of this song. For that matter I was not aware of the movie either.
I believe that it is always better to admit your ignorance about the song /movie if you have never heard of them. 🙂
