New year comes only once in 365 days and as such the chances of there being too many new year songs are slim, but such songs are there in Hindi movies. We have discussed such songs in the previous new year occasions and we have a few such songs lined up for this new year of 2013 as well.
Here is a heartwarmingly delighful new year song. The song is from “Toote Khilaune” (1954). This movie was a Pragati Pictures production. It was directed by Nanabhai Bhatt and the movie had Shekhar, Purnima, Gulab, Romi, Ranjit, Kumari, Babu Raje, Asha Mathur etc in it.
The song is sung by Shamshad Begam and Trilok Kapoor. This singer Trilok Kapoor is different from the actor Trilok Kapoor. What a delightfully refreshing folk music based new year song it is ! One can listen to this song many times without feeling bored.
Anjum Jaipuri is the lyricist. Music is composed by Chitragupta.
Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Prakashchandra and later by Mr Sadanand Kamath as well. This song is a new year song for all, and not just for our beloved Raja. 🙂

First of all, wish Atul-ji and his team of dedicated bloggers a very happy new year and wish that they come out with more jewels!!
Sure enough, SLBC (Radio Ceylon to most lesteners) played this and the Asha number “Sabko Mubarak Naya Saal” today morning.

What a sweet song this is! And it is not only a New Year song, it is also a new song for me – I’ve never heard it before!!!
Almost embarrassing that there is a special song to usher in the new year for me. 😉 But one can always trust the contributors of this blog to unearth songs like this. 🙂
