Uthho uthho hey Bharat

Posted on: April 19, 2013

Today (19 april 2013) is Ramnavami, the birth anniversary of Lord Ram. This day, which falls of the ninth day in the Indian month of Chaitra, is popularly known as Ramnavami and it is a major festival in India.

On this occasion, here is a song from “Bharat Milaap” (1942). This movie was produced by Prakash Bhatt and directed by Vijay Bhatt. The movie had Prem Adib, Shahu Modak, Shobhna Samarth, Durga Khote, Umakant, Vimala Raman, Ratan Mala etc in it.

The song under discussion takes place at the time when Lord Ram, Sita, Lakhman and Hanuman return back after completing their Vanvas and after defeating Rawan in the process of rescuing Sita.

The singer as well as the lyricist of this song are not known. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on their identities. Music is composed by Shankarrao Vyas.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Nitin Shah.

Song-Uthho uthho he Bharat tumhaare (Bharat Milaap)(1942) MD-Shankarrao Vyas

Lyrics(Provided by Nitin Shah)

ramchandr ki jai
maharaj ramchandra ki jai
shri ramchandra ki jai

utho-utho he bharat tumhaare
ram abhi hain aate

darshan kar ke prabhu ke kyon nahin
mann ki peer mitaate
aaye aaye ram hamaare
aaye shri raghunath
aaye shri raghunath
paakar bharat prabhu charnan ko
paakar bharat prabhu charnan ko
ho gaye aaj sanaath
do shareer ik praan huye hain
mita hriday santaap
mita hriday santaap
hua aaj shri ramchandra se
sachhaa bharat milaap

dhann-dhann aaj ayodhya nagri
?? nandi gram
?? nandi gram
amar kahaani bandhu prem ki
amar bharat ka naam
amar bharat ka naam
?? mangal sukhad manawat
paakar raja ram
paakar raja ram
ek baar sab bhakti bhaav se
kaho siyaavar ram
ram ram raja ram
patit paawan sita ram
ram ram raja ram
patit paawan sita ram
raghupati raaghav raja ram
patit paawan sita ram

Today I was arguing with my wife that Bharat deserves equal respect as Ram for he patiently waited for Ram’s return and surrendered the kingdom to Ram. Can we expect anyone to be like Bharat today?
